Glad you're enjoying the Carriage House. We think it's great, a real hidden gem. Yes the decor is a bit dated, but that's the only thing we've got against it. We love all the extra space over a normal room and the kitchen, laundry facilities and free internet are a bonus. Hubby likes that fact he can be at the pool in less than 2 mins from the room.

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

We have stayed there several times and really like it. What type of room have you booked? We always book a one bedroom suite as we like the extra space. The rooms are not modern and could do with an upgrade, but they have new flat screen TV's. Even the deluxe bedrooms have a kitchenette.

They have a small pool which never seems to get busy so there are usually loungers available.

5 minute walk to the back door of the Miracle Mile and just a few mins more to the strip.

We have booked a 1 bed suite with full kitchen, i got it through a timeshare exchange so i was a bit worried about it for £100 for a week. However from some of the reviews it sounds like a good choice. Im so looking forward to it now 11 weeks to go!!

Hi, here at the mo as some of you know, re Carriage House which is where we're at, LOVE IT....thanks Luci, excellent choice.
I'll do a proper trip report when we get back but certainly the space, the kitchen, the fact you can park right outside and be in your room in less than 5 mins are a huge plus for me, plus location....fantastic. Decor a bit dated but no issue with us.

Money, I brought cash this time round, both dollars and pounds, hubby loaded up his Fairfx card so we have both options...plus I have my charge card for big purchases should we need it.
Weather at mo, overcast and windy but it's all good.

I cannot emphasise enough the need for moisturiser and lip balm, my face is peeling and its not even been sunny as such and I've been slathering on the moisturiser.

    Toodles for now, Triker.

Glad to hear your having a good time in the Carraige House! We are staying there in June 4 adults in a 1 bed suite, any possibility of some photos of the rooms etc? And do you think it will be suitable for 4 adults?

    Have a fab holiday x

Arrived back yesterday after a 16 day trip, a mixed trip some high points and some disappointments, some may have different views but I can only call them as I saw them.

flew into San Francisco and arriving through immigration was probably the smoothest process I've been through, had a homeland security official who actually read our itinery. He lived east of Sacramento and gave us the bad news regarding the weather, the road east of Sacramento through the mountains to Stateline was due to be closed. If we couldn't get through then he advised us where to stay.

Picked up the car and unusually for me I took the extra breakdown insurance $6 a day because of the weather. The drive was pretty uneventful until we stated the real climb into the mountains, everything was fine until we went round a bend and a curtain dropped, visibility dropped to about a car length with freezing fog the temperature dropped from the mid 40'sF to 23F, we were at about 7,000ft and still climbing, I think it topped out at about 8,250ft. We slowed right down but were being overtaken at speed all the time, this with a sheer drop to our right. We were stopped at the first of 3 roadblocks and after a tire check as to whether we needed chains were allowed through, the last 30 miles to Stateline took over 3 hours. As we started to descend from the high pass the snow started, talking to the locals later we had driven up through the snow clouds and we caught the snow when we passed through them again on the way down.

South lake Tahoe and Stateline was pretty spectacular, proper snow went down to the lake above your knees right up to the waters edge.

Drove up to Reno and stopped off at Carson city nothing at all special, and then visited Virginia city, that was a high light, a bit cheesy as most of the stores are touristy but as close to a genuine old west town as one might fine, good for a couple of hours anytime. The drive through was again pretty spectacular, Reno is what one might expect, somewhat rundown and tatty, all I can say is that I've done it now.

    interesting drive down south.

Went to Celine Dion show last night.
Was very good, although she didnt sing many of her own songs but included a medley of Bond movie themes, and a Michael Jackson tribute medley.
She also sings a duet with Stevie Wonder, a hologram effect makes it look like he is there .
and one of her songs starts with a hologram of her on the stage, she then appears at the back of the theatre and walks down the centre aisle stopping and singing to individuals on the way down to the stage.

Its just her and her band and orchestra, no fancy Cirque dancers and acrobatics like her previous residency at Caesars.

Hi - OK, finished our TR...it's probably longer and more rambly than normal (as if that anyone thought that was possible) due to the circumstances.

I'm not going to post it here as it will take up so much space - but I think this link to the Word document should work.

Did I mention how long and rambly it is? Sorry about that...impossible for me not to go on and on. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
