    Hi

We're booked for 7th April for 7 nights but hotel prices for this week seem to have gone crazy. I've tried to look see if there is something going on but struggling to see anything thats causing the price increase.

Challenge for anyone that can find a decent price for any strip hotel for that week!

    Thanks x

one of the biggest conventions of the year (NAB) is the 11th to 14th of April.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Whats your budget

I cant recomend the Trop (Because I havent stayed there, room renovations look good though) but they are doing some great rates, your 7 nights are £298 prepaid £42 a night,

    MB is £563

    all on Cityandshow

    ANY strip hotel?!

Excalibur has some pretty reasonable prices for your dates using this offer from SmarterVegas:

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=EXC&host=offer&show=rates&code=GBOOK&kbid=1162904&sub=1953753!N!GBOOK

    Tower room $405.40
    Widescreen Tower room $525.40
    Deluxe or View room $475.40
Widescreen Deluxe or Widescreen View room $585.40

All are + taxes and $14 daily resort fee

Or there's always the good old Imperial Palace...deluxe room $470.00 on their friends and family rates https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-reservations/main/?packageCode=IIFNF&propcode=ILV&view=ratecal&clickid=zx-QN8zoKw4UWJkTMZwflSIgUk1Veg3NGQYF300&iradid=1107&irpid=10160&rd=AFF&aff=aff

If you look at deals not booked direct with the hotels, then a quick search on Kayak throws up the Riviera (Oasis room £162 from onhotels.com), the Stratosphere (Tower Deluxe room £207.59 or Premier Guest room £228.68 from booking.com) as well as deals on Circus Circus, The Tropicana...I could go on.

Bookit.com has some decent deals on the Luxor (just over $600) or on the Palms (approx $680, deluxe guestroom inc 2 free buffets per stay) & Palms Place (approx $750, studio suite) if you don't mind being a little bit off strip

Would I or anyone else on here recommend staying at most of these places - some yes, some no, but they are decently priced offers for an expensive week including 2 weekend nights if you're only on a limited budget. It depends what a 'decent' price means to you and also what you want out of the hotel room - somewhere that's just in a good location to crash in at the end of the day or somewhere a bit nicer but more out of the way?

If you post more about how much you actually have to spend, what standard of hotel you're looking for, where abouts on the strip you really want to stay, how many in your party (I've assumed 2 adults) etc you'll probably get more useful replies.

Off the current subject and I apologise for that but who's been to the Hoover Dam and is there much to do locally or on the way? Just wondering how long we'll need to put aside for it as we would like to check it out?

FYI, check out todays Las Vegas Sun online, there's an article on the widening of highway 93, lots of photos, the one with the big building in the background is the Hacienda.

    Hi again
Thank you for your replies. A bit more info from me would have been helpful, sorry!

We are 6 adults all been to Vegas quite a few times before and are currently booked in Desert Rose. We paid $1200 (400 per couple)total for the week for 3 apartments. I know its off strip but was chosen for the apartment style for the seperate sitting area. I have read reviews about the credit card issue so have been a little put off.

I have previously stayed at Paris, PH and MB.

I would choose PH again but prices are too high. Our budget is flexible but would prefer to be around £500 per couple as we have only paid £270 per couple for Desert Rose.

Three of our party stayed at Trop last August for 1 night they said it was ok but could hear traffic noise inside room. Maybe a poor positioned room.....

We tried to look at conventions but obviously didnt do a great job! Will this mean strip will be really really busy?
If so might look at Orleans as staying there in August so might be worth trying to earn a few comps!

Thanks again for your quick replies really appreciate all info!x

Thank you for your report! Really enjoyed it - now I want In-n-Out! :)

And Mr ferf1223 wants to know - which Star Wars slots do they have at Cosmo? He loves them, but isn't a massive fan of the ones with the multi-level progressive, the one with the speeder bike bonus...though occasionally the lowest progressive resets to a very high value and then we'll jump on them. :)

It's different to the speeder bike bonus. It's a WOZ style machine with the big seats but has several bonuses. There is an R2d2 type bonus, a little odd thing dressed in a brown monk like outfit bonus (I'm not a star wars fan normally!) and then another bonus that I can't quite remember. We kept getting bonuses though so played quite a lot.

There is also a batch of other machines that had very generous bonuses. They have either a Viking, a pirate, a Spanish woman or a Rose of Cairo theme and the bonus at the top shows lots of cascading coins. These seemed to pay out lots and have lots of bonus spins.

Ok, so you like the idea of more of an apartment type property rather than a bog standard hotel room - fair enough, although I'm struggling to think of many....

You could get a one bedroom suite at Polo Towers for about $650 inc taxes including the discount they give for an 'extended stay' -see http://polo-towers-las-vegas.h-rez.com/ Suites have full kitchens and a balcony and are in what I think is a pretty good location opposite City Centre and kind of behind the Hawaiin Marketplace. No casino in the property, but should be pretty easy to get to loads of others on the strip.

Alternatively the Carriage House is about a block away from the strip in roughly the same area, and has been well reviewed by various regulars on here who have tried it. Rates on their website come out at $798.56 inc taxes for a one bedroom suite or $641.76 for a king room with kitchenette but no separate seating area. Again no casino though if that's important.

Rio might also be an option in roughly the right price range if you have a look around for some deals, although I think the normal rooms are more like studio suites rather than a separate lounge area so might not be what you're after.

You could also consider splitting your stay into say 3 nights + 4 nights to make the most of any deals available, maybe stay somewhere cheaper for the Thurs - Fri - Sat and then move on for the cheaper nights to a nicer hotel?

    Thanks Vikki

Have you stayed at Polo towers? If so, how long does it take to walk to the strip and where do you "pop" out at (nearest casino). Just wondering if its worth the extra $250 compared to Desert Rose. Not too bothered about not having a casino as it stops me feeding those pesky slots 24/7!

Would consider splitting into 3/4 days but the nicer hotels are still really high prices mid week due to convention that Ferf mentioned. I have been keeping my eye on prices and just yesterday went crazy they may change again (hopefully). Looked at Cosmo could get the week via 3rd party (lowcostusa) for £680 ish then suddenly went over £1000!

Thanks photome for your suggestions, I did like MB did the $20 trick and got a fab upgrade from a 550 to a 750.
