If you decided to go for the downtown option instead, Golden Nugget is probably the nicest hotel there and would be $427 as previously mentioned (although not sure if this is +tax though, their website is a bit crap!). There are a lot of other hotels which would be much cheaper but I wouldn't like to vouch for the quality - you'd need someone on here who has stayed up that way to advise you properly. El Cortez, the Fremont and Golden Gate are all on Fremont Street so in a good location for the Fremont Street Experience etc and are coming up with really cheap rates, but they are older properties and I wouldn't necessarily recommend you stay there without having done so myself!

Apparently El Cortez has had a revamp and is rated very highly by one reviewer here.http://www.vegastripping.com/features/feature.php?feature_id=218&page=1DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Well if it is any good it's an absolute bargain - coming up at $83 on booking.com IN TOTAL for those weekend / March Madness / crazy expensive dates in a pavillion room or $104 in a tower room. Looks like the review is of the Cabana Super Suites though so would guess the rest are yet to be refurbed? Can only find these on the El Cortez website direct, and no offer code for these dates, so comes to a total of $331 - not quite so MSE, although still not bad if the rooms are actually nice.
Edit: It's actually further down than I thought though, not on the little strip where the FSE canopy with the light show is like Golden Nugget, Binions, Golden Gate etc...could be a bit dicey in terms of how safe the area is at night.0 -
Well I'm quite surprised by this - rooms at the Fremont were apparently refurbed in 2008 and actually look really nice, if a bit on the small side:

That could be a real bargain...and they have the fabulous $1 margaritas in the casino as a bonus :beer:0 -
JuneI'll be doing my Vegas Review when i go start of June, coupled with Photos of the Tropicana.... I now got 3 rooms booked there and cant wait to get there!0

OctoberVery good offer if you ask me!

Had to cancel the Monte Carlo and instead I just booked two nights with taxes and resort fees for 120$ in total. Anyone knows if they have free internet available? I guess free parking and Valet parking should also be included in the price.
CheersThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
I think that is the deal we booked for the Flamingo. 5 nights in a Go Deluxe room came to a grand total of $2520

MayOff the current subject and I apologise for that but who's been to the Hoover Dam and is there much to do locally or on the way? Just wondering how long we'll need to put aside for it as we would like to check it out?0

I'm not sure, I know I priced up our fortnight and it came in at around $400 or something daft like that, that was a few months ago though...maybe give the hotel a ring and ask what specials they have on offer?DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Not much to do on way but it is only about 40 minutes drive away. the only thing local to the Dam is Lake mead. Speed boat hire is fun but expensive.
You can do internal tours of the Dam which I enjoyed but not sure if you have to book them or come to that even if they still do them0 -
AugustWhy has El Cortez been mentioned, would anyone really want to stay there.
The hotel was built in the 40s
