I am quite good at not buying in the sales, as I just dont go. Dont like the crowds. (I do like people, just get a bit claustraphobic!).
I bought a Prima mag this morning, and it has a free Mascara on it? Does this count as cheating? I do buy Prima most of the time. When I see it and I have some money in my purse!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
To UU's to report today!
The Body Shop Wild Cherry Shower Gel 250g WIBA? Maybe, i'm not sure. It is quite plasticy/fake smelling. I have a small 60g bottle to get through first before i decide if i hate it or not.
Lush American Cream Conditioner 100g WIBA? Yes, I love this conditioner! I have the big 500g bottle to start on now though! Wouldn't recommend this for hair that needs deep conditioning, as it is very light. I find if i use this when i wash my hair (every 2 days) Along with a deep conditioner once a week, my hair is in great condition! It does smell amazing though!0 -

that is some achievement! I struggle to make £100, you must be some super survey queen!!
another site (i really shouldn't post on this thread of all pages!!) is clixresearch.com but it does have a million questions to answer in registration!! it is worth it, trials can be few and far between but they are usually quality items!0 -
How about a visual aide memoir too? Get a picture of a house/ flat/ whatever you want to buy. Divide the picture into 120 squares and each time you have £100 saved, cross off another square.
I read a book called the automatic millionaire by Richard Bach and he talked about paying yourself first. So don't save what's left, pay your savings first and then live off the rest. It's a brilliant book but I lent it out and never got it back
I completely agree about the paying yourself first bit - I've got standarding orders that put money into savings accounts for holidays, gifts and annual spends (car, insurance that sort of thing) and also into a savings account tucked away at another bank for our next car. The direct debits for most things come out early in the month too and the rest of the money is what is left to live on. At the end of the month the remainder goes into our emergencies fund but even if there is nothing left at least we've had the savings at the start of the month.
Back on topic I've got a hand pump of hand food on my desk at work that I got for Christmas a while ago and haven't used that I'm determind to get through - it's staring at me saying use me!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Afternoon ladies,
Glad to see so many UU! Well done, wish my stash was getting smaller!
I've had some bad news about a close family member today. I normally perk myself up with a body butter or make-up but Obviously I don't want to buy anything! So my question is, how do you ladies cheer yourselves up?Saving all my pennies0 -

Sorry to hear that pinkphoenix i hope the news improves
How about baking some cakes? Always works with me, and if you are one of many of us on a new years diet you could always bring one round to the family member to cheer them up too. Its a little thought but it helps me. You could also bake some bread as you can really knock the **** out of the dough to get rid of the stress....then take a relaxing bath and pamper whilst the dough rises before baking x0 -
So, if I take back an item to a shop which is non toiletry (unsuitable Christmas gift), and exchange it for a nice smelly, does that count as having failed the challenge.....? Is there a moritorium for the Boots 75% off sale too.......:rotfl:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Sorry you've had bad news Pinkphoenix. Rather than buying some nice smellies from a shop, how about shopping from your stash? Or rearrange your stash to look beautiful?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Nothing to report from me today, but one of my shampoos is nearing the end of life, as is one moisturiser - woohoo, I'm quite enjoying this!
This is the first year I have completely avoided the Boots sale and not bought anything - good luck to those who are trying to have willpower to avoid it and if you don't manage, at least you are getting a good deal!
Pinkphoenix - how about a night in front of a good film and a nail and toe polish? Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0
