  • After having the foresight to realise that I certainly wouldn't be able to succeed with the January thread, I have decided to give the February thread a go!

Well done all of you that succeeded!

Was a bit naughty today. We have an Avon rep who delivers to our office and although our receptionist has ordered some bits in the past I've managed to flick through but not order. Unfortunately, today was not the case :(

Have ordered the following, all of which I can't really justify as needing.

    Bubble Bath BOGOF
Room spray, bath creme and shower gel 3 4 £5
Crusade pin (always have bought these so am justifying this)
    2 packs of muslin cloths

A total of £13.00. Oops. Although in my defence the last time I bought anything from Avon was 23rd October last year. Before I used to order from every book, which comes out every three weeks, hence why I have such a huge stash. Have I redeemed myself :)

I've been wondering for a while if this thread is actually helping me give up buying lovely smellies or encouraging me to to buy more. As I read this post by lynseydee, I hoofed it to the front door where I had angelically :A put my AVON catalogue without even opening it to look for the BOGOF offer on bubblebath...!! :rotfl:Do you think I got my answer!! Luckily  it had already been collected and I was saved from myself!

I'm cold turkey for Feb, and for anyone else like me who is new to all these threads, I just found the new link: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3020750
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

[QUOTE=tara747;40781156]Just totted up... I am ashamed to say that I spent £72.93 on toiletries in January!!! This does include the Boots 75% sale but still! How the hell did I spend that much???]

That is nothing. I am well into 3 figures for my January spending - I am really ashamed....hope this makes you feel better....never mind the naughty step, I think I'm on the escalator!

In my defence, last year I thought I was going to lose my job so lived very frugally and bought nothing nice for myself. I then got NIL toiletries for Christmas. Now still have my job and so went a bit OTT in the sales. Got loads of nice bargain stuff for presents, in case my job does get the chop and I can't afford to buy anything later in the year, and nice smellies for my sister who is in a very low paid smelly (farm) job.

    :o

LOL @ the naughty escalator!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You did make me feel better, thanks. :) And I'm glad that you still have your job and can afford to treat yourself and your sister xo

Yep - a freak wind blew me through the door and up to the till - miraculously only disturbing two body butters and £6 out of my purse :rotfl::rotfl:

I hate it when that happens!!!

Blimey, yeah, that's a lot to weigh up. I'm so glad you got your diagnosis though. (I know some docs are still reluctant to diagnose M.E.) Big hugs sweetie.

Tara You may have spent a few £££ cherub, but look at what you got for it!:beer:

On the Elasticizer front I found that I got a good result on the first go, but that it improved even more on the next one. Having said that I've been doing without it for a little while now and people are still telling me how "lucky" I am to have nice hair. (I guess the results haven't worn off yet!)

Rightio that's it. I'm calling it I think. That's the end of the whole month with no spend whatso-diddly-ever. WooooooHoooooooo!:dance::dance::dance:

    Thanks for the support lovelies!

    Roll On February! :j

Well, yes, I did do rather well on value for money :D:D:D:D

Wish I'd bought the big tub of Elasticizer when it was 30% off at New Year on HQHair!!! How do you apply it? I am going to use my little 20ml up before deciding whether to splash out but don't want to do it wrong. TIA!

Mega congrats on zero spend in January!!! :T:T:T

Managed to get to the Dr's today and after a lot of crying and explaining and looking over records I have been diagnosed with ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). I now have to decide whether or not to take the meds that will help with this as they cause my other condition to flare *sigh*

Hugs to you Sarah - I am sure that now you have your diagnosis you and your family will be able to make some positive choices that will support and enhance your life :)

I'm sorry but I couldn't find the post again but someone quoted me re: the Philosophy The Present. All I can say is give it a go. At first it didn't make me oily but my skin has got oilier lately. Can feel marked improvement now that I've excluded it from my regime.

This was me!!! Have another product to UU before I get to this. Glad I only paid £5.99 for it.
