I don't hoard everything but I too have a large number of books, although I do give them away once I've read them. It is difficult to resist buying them in charity shops. I have quite a few candles which take up a lot of space in a cupboard, although this winter I have been using them and also oils on a regular basis. In fact last night I actually finished a candle (the first time in ages) and tonight I have started to use a small scented candle in a pretty tin. It's only the second time I've used it and yet I think this was the first candle that I bought a few years back that started me off on my fetish! My candle buying habit is now under control - I know I won't be tempted until the stash has reduced significantly! I also love bags, whether handbags or canvas shopping bags. There are 3 cheap bags I'm after at the moment - a pretty £1 Celia Birtwell lunch bag which I've seen in the Boots magazine, a £4 shopping bag from Tesco (can't remember the designer's name) and the bag from Poundland that McCulloch mentioned has intrigued me. I do use all my bags though - I am always chopping and changing them to match different outfits/needs.
Over the last couple of years I had a thing about buying tights - particularly opaque ones in different colours/patterns. I kept buying them when I saw them on offer and subsequently I've now got a drawer full :rotfl:. I have had to go cold turkey on buying these - I still look at them in the shops but now manage to talk myself out of buying any.
Gosh, on writing all this down, I think I definitely have an addictive personality. Let's face it girls, once we get the toiletries under control there will always be something else!
I bought the £4 Tesco bag by Orla Kiely three times - twice to put gifts in rather than wrapping them, and one for me. Money goes to Clic Sargent and to a bursary for textile students, so it's a win-win situation. I still can't find anything resembling the mobile phone face bag from Poundland, but I found mine near the tills, if that's a help.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I have two of these. Thinking of giving one to my daughter for her to buy a friend's birthday present. How do these work if you want to buy something priced at nearly £5.00?£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am

Lol, that is good! I find that usually offers on those channels are cheaper online, specially if you take into account the p&p. That near £5 they charge sometimes is abusive!!I have a £5 off voucher that I am trying not to use - I don't want my stash growingI might get a mascara (I can only use it for No 7 or Ruby and Millie) because that is the only make up item I have only one of.
Remember that Clinique was offering the trade-in mascara thing, where you give them your old and they give you a travel size one. I usually spend the £5 voucher in anything under £7, like some nail varnish, eye shadow or similar bits. I had a look at what they have and items for under £8 (so you would pay up to £3 with the voucher) are:
* £4 or under in No7: file and buffer, cleansing sponges, make up sponges, exfoliating sponge
* £4 - £5: Muslin cloths, foldaway bag, glasses case
* £5 - £7: brown eye pencil, metallic eye pencil, lipgloss, moisture gloves, make up hair band, pencil sharpener, eyelash curler, cleanse & care, make up brushes, nail & cuticle care, all nail polish, lip liner..
* over £7 but up to £8: cover blemish stick, wash travel kit with travel size make up (out of stock online though) which includes black mascara 4.5ml, pink lipstick, eye mousse and 15ml of protect and perfect day cream. How do these work if you want to buy something priced at nearly £5.00?
They just do not give you any change. You still can use the voucher if it is anything under £5 but no change or voucher given for the change.
By the way, I keep reading all your comments in the WIBA lines and I wonder if you know you could earn money by sharing those opinions in places like Ciao. It might be just pennies sometimes, sometimes it can be a note or two. In my first review (a mobile phone) I had £10 because it was chosen as one of the reviews of the month. I had written in the same site but in a different language before and I had £60 in under a year by just talking about books and films. Your opinions are voted by other members, the more detailed it is the better but it is a consumer site so they prefer experiences and tips and not just information. I think toiletries, travel and technology are the sections with more users. They pay with paypal after a set amount (can't remember how much). You get the points at the end of the month, and it takes a few weeks to get the money but it is worth if you have spare time and you like sharing your opinions. I am planing to do it again soon. I knew some members that wrote about anything, from the yogurt from lunch to the lollipop they had in the way back home. Good thing is that if people keep voting your opinion, even if it is voted a year after you wrote it, you still get some pennies for it. I had in average £2-£3 a month writing in the most unpopular section lol. Idk how it would be now but some of you have tried so many products that you could easily give advice and talk about smells, compare products and explain these things with detail.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I've reviewed a few toiletry things on Amazon, and am an Amazon Vine Voice. Amazon offer me books and sometimes electrical goods for free if I agree to review them. I enjoy writing and had written quite a few reviews that people liked, so Amazon invited me to become a Vine Voice.
I've had one toiletry related item - a lovely Max Factor foundation that my friend loved - I don't use foundation. I've also been offered hairdryers - 2 passed on as extra Christmas gifts - and hair straighteners. I've had useless weight loss pills and some very good items - a steam generator iron, a massage cushion and a top class slow cooker amongst other things.
Just to emphasise, you have to be asked to become a Vine Voice, but if you do like writing reviews, get posting and who knows?Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Yesterday's UU, Gingerbread house bubble bar, wiba, no. It looked cute, smelled nice, until you used it! The bath was fine but it has left a horrible meldew smell in the bathroom, even lil brother mentioned the smell and he usually loves lush baths
I have actually binned over half of it because I darn't use it again.
There will be some more UU's later as most of my 'open' things are spluttering :T Have a great evening all :beer:0 -

I have a UU to report - firstly a Avon hand cream that I cut the end off about 4 weeks ago (its amazing how much is left inside when it starts spluttering). WIBIA again, no as I didn't think it was very moisturising.
Have cut the end off an Olay facial wash I bought with the Boots £5 voucher last year, so will hopefully be used up in the enxt couple of days.Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

OOH! I didn't know you could use it accessories like these!
I've just got one, and could really do with some more muslin cloths and make-up sponges, so it would be a great idea to get some with it.
I went to check the back of my voucher, just in case, and it says that excludes gift sets, electrical beauty, beauty services and priced reduced lines, so it should be ok for accesories. :j The No7 muslin cloths are under £5 so you would not have to pay a penny either.
My voucher comes attached to a £5 eye test that I am thinking of using. I am currently paying £16 a month for my contact lenses by post, they get me with the promise of free eye test and if I have any problem I just go for free.. but tbh I never had any problem and there is always some offer in eye tests every now and then. If I buy the contacts I like online I would pay £120 per year and they are really comfy. I am currently paying £192 a year... so I don't think any eye test is going to cost me £72. And liquids are expensive but not that much, I also have about 4 full bottles since I never use the whole bottle that comes with the contacts. The only problem is that I need an up to date eye test from the last year and I am not sure D&A (boots) would give me mine.I wonder if I re-do the test if I could ask for a copy.
mcculloch29 thanks for that!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*
