No Buying Toiletries in Jan 2011 !!!!

I had another UU earlier when I was getting ready for work. A Mcleans toothpaste. WIBA?: Not yet as I still have 2 as they were 3 for 2 when I bought them. Everyone else is using the Aloe Vera toothpaste but I don't like it as it's really hard to get out of the tube!
Need to have a good go at moisturising my feet. Shall do in the morning on my way to bed. They are deperate at the moment

Well, I've been sat doing some maths... quite an interesting exercise, to say the least. (Actually, it's given me an idea for some worksheets, I teach maths to adults, but that's another thing entirely).

I wash my hair 4 times a week maximum. It's fine, collar-length straight hair that I wash with the no-tangle method (comb hair before washing, do not tangle, wash hair as if you were sponging down a delicate cloth).

This uses a maximum of 8 ml of shampoo, possibly less. (Teaspoon and a half plus a smidgen if you are non-metric.)

So that is 32 ml a week, 128 ml a month.

On that basis, I will not have to buy shampoo again for THIS YEAR, I've got that much in various bottles, plus at least two bottles of shower gel that can do dual duty as shampoo.

I don't believe that it will go 'off' in that time, some of the bottles have been open c. 6 months max.

So I'm declaring 2011 My Year of Not Buying Shampoo.:j

Well 2 UU this morning, looks like DD finished the Tresemme shampoo and conditioner last night. I am going to see what I can find to use up in the shower as dont have the time for a long soak in the bath today.

Hi Becky 2, so far I have only used the treatment oil and I have to say I'm a total convert! I've found that a tiny blob (about the size of £1 coin) is enough to leave my hair super soft and shiny. I can now totally understand why people rave about morroccanoil.

I have'nt tried the conditioner or the masque yet as tbh I haven't needed to, the oil seems to be doing a good enough job on its own. When I do get round to using them I'll let you know how I find them,

Hello, can I join in please? I've lurked on and off for a few months round here and have made some improvements. My 'problems' have been stocking up on everyday toiletries when they are on offer in the supermarket, and using normal things but not using scrubs and things like that so ending up with loads. I also used to collect the free samples from magazines and stash them in a drawer but never use them.

Improvements so far
- Sorted through the free samples, picked out a few I liked (most of which I've now used) then gave the rest to a local women's shelter.
- Realised supermarkets have offers on every week and stopped 'stocking up'. There will always be another offer and I now tend to just have a couple of spares. We always use one up before starting another.
- I started using my scrubs - the skin on my limbs has been very dry and a bit rough in this weather so I'm now softer from the scrubs and getting through more moisuriser. Yey!

So, I don't have the massive stashes of stuff that some of you do (they look so pretty...) but need to just keep myself in check I think!
