Hi Everyone. I just did a search to see if this thread was still on the go and I'm so pleased it is.:j Tried last year and did make an attempt for a while and feel I am buying much less generally - but who can resist a bargain!

My QVC buying is much more selective now but then again will probably buy the Decleor TSV on the 23rd- for the new cleanser, and maybe ebay the rest -(who am I kidding!)

Also want to use up what I have so I can try some S&G as loads of people seem to absolutely love it - this is what I will ask for next christmas when I have used everything up in my drawer, cupboard, under the bed, bathroom cabinet.......:o

I have a weakness for poundland (as mentioned by someone else) - if I can get something here which I know is £2.99 in Boots etc then i just have to have it!

I have just joined the sealed pot challenge so will put money in there when i am tempted to buy toiletries.

I think I still have lots of bubble bath in a box under the bed and we had the bath removed and a wet room done 5 years ago:eek: I feel a clearout coming on!

I'm awful for the pound shop thing, I keep needing to remind myself that it's only a bargain if I need it or will use it! The only things I don't feel gulity about buying on the cheap (and 2 or 3 at a time) is soft and gentle deo as it's my fave to use and I know it will get used and pantene curly hair mousse.

and as for the bubble bath what about using it as hand wash? put it some some pretty pump bottles on all the sinks in the house and keep refilling..or use it as shower gel? (or if it's really that bad to clean the sink?:rotfl: ) give it to a charity as a raffle prize, carboot it (only if you're doing a car boot...unless of course you've got enough to have a stall of just bubble bath!) ebay it as a job lot?
    Love it, Thank You.

you're welcome...and remember just because I didn't get on with it doesn't mean that you won't discover it as your next HG

mummyofonechild - dont worry - I promise you are among friends....

and frankly, against some of the lists we've seen on here ( ANYONE WANT TO FESS UP??!!!) 20 showergels is a bit amateurish ;)
(I had about 20 bars of soap at the start, I even stopped using my shower gel and dont use a puff thing in a vain attempt to get rid of them!!! Im down a lot, but still got FAR too many go get rid of!!)

Hello shower gel queen! Our local hospital collects stuff like shampoo to help patients brought in without any such stuff. Perhaps you could do some good with some of your stash - do a 'Jaxx' no less - so maybe there is a homeless shelter near you who'd welcome a small donation with open arms. :A

Interesting to read what the weak points are for people. Lipsticks arent a weakness for me luckily, the least said about lipglosses tho the better! I've not found my holy grail lipstick yet - I know it's about there.

    Streamlined make-up - woohoo!
Talking of makeup I had a MAJOR sort out this evening. I realised how old some it is and thought mmm this is not good for my skin. So binned loads. Got rid of an Elf cream eyeshadow that make me look like um a lady of the night! Hee hee. I mean just totally overdone and I can't have stuff I have to faff around with. :o

I now have 3 make up bags. One major one for home with my A rated preferred stuff. One for work and one for the car (dont worry I never makeup and drive) which contain less preferred stuff. Done!!! :)
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Good! Just when I read it again I thought it may have come across a bit cheeky.

Lol, I LOVE that radox handsoap, it smells so pretty.

When I get round to it, I may post a full list of everything - inc. the soaps :o:rotfl: Though in my defence, it'll come in very handy in the next few months seeing as I've just skinted myself buying a fridge, washing machine, hoover, etc...

Oh, and my stash had shrunk but after Christmas it's expanded to much larger than it was last year! Thanks mum!

    WOW that's a lot of soap:rotfl:
    :o:o

I've even been leaving the soap lying in the bath when I'm in, but the damn things just won't disappear! :rotfl:

:) I may well do that if there are any niceish ones that I wont use (they cant have the ones Ive opened to see what they are(the lush ones didnt have labels on that were readable any more - they were THAT old !!) - hopefully in the next couple of days I will get round to doing my inventory again, and Im tempted to hand over my soaps. Im fairly sure Im down to one or two shower gels now - though one of those is a litre Clean Girls one - which im flipping tempted to ebay in a couple of months when people have got through their christmas presents a bit !!!

  • Hi all, I hope you don't mind me joining you all, Queen of NO MATTER WHAT pointed me to this thread from the Lush grabbit thread so I thought it maybe time to join. I too am a toiletries addict, its amazing because in 2009 I had used up all my stash and had a rule of no more than two spare plus an opened one :j That way I could still grab bogof offers. Well that all changed christmas 09 when I had so many toiletries presents it already overflowed one of my wooden crates. I then just kept stock piling and instead of pulling out old stuff when I ran out I would just go and buy more :o Usually bogof!

My stash is no longer that big in comparison but I have received yet more this christmas (and birthday) plus what is left I either don't like or its chunks of Lush soap. But this year I am determind to use everything I have and get back to the 3 bottle rule :rotfl: The most annoying part is I have recently moved house so while moving I have opened nearly two of everything, which my ocd hates! I will post a list tomorrow with all my bits and pieces and have some used bottles very soon :D

On the bath vs shower I have to say I am now a shower girl. I used to love baths in my old house as it was an old 1940's bath (it was the same bath as installed with the house) and was long and very deep. It was then changed to a low plastic bath (2009) when all the ceramic coating had worn away. Since we have moved house our new bath is a squat bath and I am unable to lay comfortably in it. At the moment I am making do but we have a power shower ready to install :T

Sorry for the mammoth first post :o

We have a QVC outlet near us

Im so glad I dont have one nearby - actually I didnt even know about them having outlet stores. This would be way too tempting!

Found out that eyeshadows should be chucked after 3 years and less if its cream eyeshadow. Alot of my eyeshadow would have to be chucked if this is true! Lipstick 2 years and lipgloss 18 months. Hmmm I will be chucking away alot of makeup

  • Do you think so? I'm not so sure it is...Boots seem to have lumped together a number of S&G products that are being discontinued with some others which haven't had 'rave' reviews with a couple of decent products and few lip products, very careful marketing and timing too, straight after the much sought after tote bag and all the publicity that went with it. Don't get me wrong I'm a HUGE S&G fan (the size of my stash could tell you that) but I'm just not convinced this package is one of the most 'thought' out products from a consumers point of view, great for boots and their profits but less so for the likes of us who's bathrooms it will clutter up with half used products. Just my opinion, I think Boots have been very naughty here.

Or perhaps I'm missing something and it's a fab buy?:rotfl:

I can see your point, but I am sooooo in love with S&G I want to try EVERYTHING at the moment, I feel like a 5 year old! I hope I will enjoy at least some of it!!! :D

    - and you guys are supposed to be stopping me not suggesting more. Who mentioned the S&G bundle. Well it was a good offer wasnt it :o.

snipped... This is my "new" problem, I want to use things up but I want to be MSE about it... how do you all deal with it? Do you scrape everything to the bare edges or do you hear one splutter and go "ok bye bye then..."!!!icon11.gif

    it's such a conundrum:eek:

  • Count me in then. I'll do a stock take tomorrow but I know I have 2 undersink cupboards, a bathroom cabinet, a large drawer and a small chest of 4 drawers full of stuff that other people have bought or given to me. I don't know why people buy me so much - perhaps they think I smell or something LOL
I reckon I could go the whole 12 months without buying anything other than shampoo and toothpaste so that's my personal challenge!
