hi, is it just me but ..........until trying to use my stuff up i never had spots or stuff, now i'm using cleanser and moisturiser i seem to have spots! Doesn't seem to matter what i use but every time i try and start to get the 'habit' in place i end up with my skin worse than it was before. I'm confused.
Also can i pick some brains? do i need to use toner? it seems to be the only thing i haven't got amongst my No7 toiletries and i'm not sure what difference it makes.

mags i can't seem to use one thing up a week let alone a day. To be honest i think it's more likely i'll only use up 12 things this year. It's madness why don't things run out for me?

What worries me about this is people are saying things like the huge S+G 500ml clean girls are lasting for almost a year with daily use (I have 2:o). Even lots of the sample tubes of moisturiser are 5mls and can easily last for a week. I have too much stuff to even count it but 300 out would be fantastic.

The other part of this is to keep items in at 100 max, less would be good. 100 sounds like loads but this is to include necessary items and the 75% sale if it happens. I mean how many items are in a Ferne Cotton hatbox? A least 10 probably:o Then there's the mascara exchange and a few other samples from Debenhams soon, ask for those in more than one branch....see how this adds up :undecided

Does it count that I bought some Mens L'Occitane for my BF's birthday today! (Well its his birthday tomorrow). I never heard of it until my Mum bought me some for Christmas, but I havent started using mine yet. So many other things still to use.:D

MrM used to use L'Occitane shave cream (and still uses the After Shave Balm) but they changed the formula and it is of a thinner consistency now. I bought him some Elemis and Liz Earle ones for Christmas for him to try these as an alternative.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I sometimes find that when I switch products or brands, I get more spots. Sometimes it settles down after a bit but other times, the product/brand just continuously gives me even more spots! Bear in mind that I'm spot prone anyway so you're probably totally different. Seeing as you've specifically mentioned moisturiser, I do find that certain moisturisers clog my pores, especially the richer ones (which is a nuisance in the winter when you want a heavier protection against the elements!).

    Just to report:
Went into B**ts - they had the buy 2 diet cokes for £1.80p and get a free nails inc polish. I inspected each of the colours, though na dont like brown, dont really wear blue and the dark red, well I have some of those already so I.......(drum roll) walked away....! Then walked into the poundland shop, bought 2 bottles of pepsi for £1. So I will put the 80p/£1 ish I saved into my tin. No new stash and saved 80p. Yay me.

Also walked past my hairdressers and did not, repeat did not, buy their gift set. Which contains my favourite products for much cheaper... I think Timotei is just about working out ok for me.

Help! I dont know who I am! But I'm lovin' it!

For me switching to oil free moisturiser made all the difference. I went for a facial several months after switching and the facialist straight away said you're skin's looking better). Now tis winter I am putting richer cream on my cheeks and neck but leaving the t zone with oil free stuff. So sadly all the liz earle and no7 muslin cloth type cleansers arent for me as they usually contain some sort of oil.
    Can heartily recommend:
Body Shop seaweed moisturiser (i use the SPF one)
I have in my stash a nivea oil free one which was only a few pound from wilkinson.

You can always use the richer moisturiser in your stash on your neck/chest area.

Also what type of cleanser are you using? If you use one that is too drying, the skin goes into panic and produces more sebum (did you like that science bit??!). So a gentle cleanser is sometimes better than one designed for oily skin.
So maybe try one thing different for a week and see if that helps :)

Could you put the hatbox aside as a pressie for a friend? :A

thanks for that, i don't think i have oily skin, to be honest it's probably dry like the rest of me, i'm using the No7 daily foaming face wash, i've just started it but before i was using a cream cleanser, doesn't seem to matter what i use end up with spots. I have always wondered if it's just a stage you get through and then it all settles down.

OK mathematicians! I think I may have just had a really good bargain, but I'm a bit too dim to work out the maths...

A couple of weeks ago I went into The Body Shop to buy my sister her birthday present. I bought a £15 gift set ( the pink grapefruit- worth £34), but because I had a £5 off when you spend £20, i bought a Vitamin E cleansing soap and a shea butter soap, totalling £5, so that was free. Total Spend = £15 for £28 worth of stuff.

On the same trip, because it's my birthday month, I got a Moringa large shower gel for £2.50 (meant to be £7.50, but I got £5 off for my birthday). So on that journey, i spent £17.50 for £35 est. stuff.

HOWEVER, today, I got an email notifying me that there was a further 20% off sale items. So i sent my OH to town to return the pink grapefruit set got a refund of £10, and ordered the Large strawberry holdall gift (meant to be £20, apparently worth £45) and paid £16 for it. So for my sisters birthday, I paid £6 right?

So does that mean that I paid £13.50( £6 holdall, £5 for soaps, £2.50 for shower gel) for £59.50's worth of stuff?

Here goes .... You still paid £15 for the pink grapefruit gift set, as it was the soap that was free i.e. £20 of goods cost you £15...
You received back £10.. So you are even stevens now, with the soap no longer being free. You paid a fiver for the soap.

You paid £2.50 for product worth £7.50 - a fiver up.

The tenner you got back went on the holdall with another £6.
You still spent £16, not £6. But this was for product worth £45.
    £29 up there.
So you spent £5 on soap, £2.50 on shower gel and £16 on a holdall.
    That's a total spend of £23.50.
You have in your possession £57.50's worth of product.

Another UU to report! And woo-hoo, it's that blasted Lush Godiva 2 in 1 solid shampoo and conditioner.
WIBA? Never, It wasn't what the product did to my hair that was so bad, it conditioned it well. It was what it was like to use. Godiva has huge pea-sized fatty lumps in it and has a marbled appearance.
After about a dozen uses, bits were lodging in my hair and the bar was a squidgy mess that had to be squodged back into shape after each use. It was being used up much quicker than a conventional Lush bar.
Had it not been for this thread, I would have binned it, in fact if the results of using it weren't so good after all the lumps stuck on fingers and in hair had been washed off it would have been binned anyway.
