Still haven't managed one yet! BUT have my best mate visiting and I won't see her for ages so we went to the pub - only spent £3.30 though! (I'm not drinking which made rounds cheaper! can you say rounds for just two people?)

Excuses over. Will try harder tomorrow! :o

Don't worry lotti, loads of time yet to get those elusive NSDs, you'll get going soon.:)

£3.30 for a round? Where do you drink?? I'm a severe cheapskate so was in my local Spoons yesterday, two pints of real ale was £4.20 which I thought was a bargain, you've done terribly well with your round. I'd call it a round for two people too.

Good luck with tomorrow! I'm resigned to a non NSD tomorrow so am going to break the barriers of spending with depravity, so then I can hopefully <crosses toes and fingers and eyes> avoid spending till Friday. We shall see, yes! :)

    Like the positive attitude, Nym:D

Declaring today as NSD no 2...despite taking DS2 to Birmingham for a rugby training camp. Took a packed lunch and only drank water (don't drink tea or coffee)...then one of the other lads' parents bought me a hot chocolate...which really warmed me up :D.

Tomorrow is definitely going to be a spendy day...I hope to get a new printer as well as enrol on a new computer course....not to mention the food shop, as well as stuff to make a curtain for DS1 to take back to Uni on Thursday...so a busy day!!

Must shoot off....got tea to make...HM burgers and baked pot with veg...yummm!

Will report back on my spending tomorrow...could be mega!

Just a little idea, if the thread does get too much, how about you/someone does a weekly round up (I would suggest Sat or Sun but I don't know how that fits in with the weekend) based on people putting their NSD total to date in their sig on a Friday night? Or just post on liners declaring their weekly total on a Friday night? People are still free to chat as normal through the week and on other posts but if we all have a separate, easy to recognise one on a specific day, it means you don't need to go through all the posts.

Thanks kerri, I had thought about that as well:A

Spend day today, as ironically I had to buy a new spending diary for 2011!! Was expecting to get one for Christmas but didn't, and I'd be lost without one now! Going to record absolutely everything this year (just did groceries last year) to see where my extra pennies are going.

Spoon, I like the suggestions of ways to make the thread easier for you to manage, some good ideas there. I was also thinking if people post their updates in bold/red it'd be easier for you to scan through the thread? The grocery challenge does a similar thing, it would save you from having to read every post.

Hope going back to work tomorrow isn't too much of a shock for everyone. I dont want to gloat but the upside of working lots of bank holidays over christmas/new year is that I've only got two days left at work this week before a lovely 4 day weekend!

Spending diary is worth it's weight in gold kate, so worth losing an NSD for I reckon.

Thanks for the suggestion, a lot of people do that now, but worth asking everyone to do that, definitely.

Good for you, you've worked most of Xmas so entitled to a few days off.:T:T

  • Hi everyone, first day back at work today and another little NSD blighter in the bag taking me to 3 for three so it's a good start I reckon.

On another note I realised today that I don't need or even want new clothes at the minute. I did a full year last year without buying a single item of clothing (not even a pair of knickers!) and was going to treat myself to something from the sales as a reward for being so restrained. But didn't even have a look at lunchtime so I've decided to aim for a year and a half (although I might have to give in and buy underwear at some point for decency's sake....). Wish me luck.

  • Oh dear slopping back in after what can only be described as a spend day, went to next and swapped but had to pay extra as item was more than what i was swapping for, then OH went to TK Maxx and well decide on a late christmas pressie and by this time i thought sod it so had done a bit of internet shopping as well on stuff I have wanted for ages but never justified it so today before VAT increase and with christmas money, I have gone mad, whihc does now mean i can't afford to spend anymore money this month and on the plus side I don't need anything for at least a week, so I might get my 5 in a row....... fingers crossed......

    Onto tomorrow
