No idea, boultdj, he just sort of materialises when a do is in the air, like some folk do when you are about to put the kettle on or open a box of chocolates. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Cheryl - belated Happy Birthday

Jinty - big hugs xx
Well my trip back from the US didn't quite go to plan - started off ok, boarded plane, then we spent 3hrs while maintenance fiddled with some 'sheet metal' problem only for our flight to be cancelled. No more flights out that night so ended up being put on a 6.10am flight to JFK the next morning, to connect from JFK to LHR, getting in 14hrs after I had planned to. Consequently I ended up being put up in the hotel I'd checked out of 2 nights before, but had to be back at the airport at 4am to check in for the flight.
When we got to JFK the jetty then wouldn't work so they had to tow us to another jetty and given we had a really tight turnaround, it was more than a little stressful.
Landed at LHR only to find out that although me and about a dozen other people who were on the same rebooking had made the transfer at JFK, our bags hadn't - so I've been waiting all day today for my case to arrive (which it finally did at 6pm). Basically had 4hrs sleep in 48hrs and had to look at the funny/ironic side of the who scenario or I'd have turned into one of those hysterical people you see on programmes like 'Come Fly with Me'
Oh, and to really put the icing on the cake - it was OH b'day yesterday, so was supposed to have been back in the morning, had lots of plans to go out, get cake and decorate the house as a suprise...and ended up with me missing most of it, getting in at 9.30pm and having to run upstairs to wrap his presents.... at least he liked them
On the plus side (and minus the jet lag) during all the commotion I clocked up 2 more NSD - which takes my toral to 14 NSD, so hit my target  Too tired to think of upping another target - think I'm just gonna clock up as many more as I can for the rest of the month.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

No NSD today.
Bus fare to town was first spend.
Then went to bank and paid in some cheques - including christmas and birthday pressies from my parents :T
Picked up specs (and I can now just about read some really, really tiny 'small print')
Then nipped into W.H.S. - came out with a monthly craft mag, a special edition craft mag/book (half price), a runners 'manual' (released by one of the mags, but covers everything from basic eqpt to more advanced 'may like to owns' and includes training plans for everything from getting going up to marathons), and a 'market kitchen' cookbook (reduced from £16.99 to £2.99)
Had a mooch around various outdoor sports shops, but couldn't get what I wanted - need something to put over my running shoes so I can still get out next time we have snow. But I have now seen a system (that staff in another shop have used and were happy to recommend - they just haven't been able to get stock) which is cheaper - and seems more adaptable - than the one I was looking at on-line..... shame the store who had them in didn't have my sizeSo I'm going to have to trawl the 'net for these, but as they're coming out of the money my parents gave me for Christmas, I won't count them as a 'spend' when I find/order them.
Also did a trawl of mobile phone stores, and got myself another handset !!! I find it very hard to text on a traditional phone keypad, but could manage when I was only sending 1 or 2 a week. Now I'm up to as many as 8 or 9 a day my poor thumb is getting very sore, so I decided to see if I could get one with a QWERTY keypad at a reasonable price (have had several of these in the past, and love them). One I'd seen last September had been reduced in price by 50% to under £25, so having had the same one recommended in all three stores my network have in the city (and seen nothing better at the same price or cheaper anywhere else) I decided to go for it. But I'm counting this as my birthday pressie from my parents, so wouldn't have lost me an NSD anyway......
Then a visit to Prim@rk. Returned a pair of PJs I bought last month (wore them a couple of times and washed them, then went to put them on again only to discover a seam in one of the legs had 'come adrift' in the wash ). So I got £6 refunded for those. But I then went to look for a replacement pair (found a pair in the same fleece fabric at the same price, but a different colour/design), and also spotted loads of PJs in the sale..... so I ended up picking up an extra 5 pairs for an additional £19. Should see me well through this year, and probably next year as well
Final spend was in a discount store while waiting for the bus home.... I'd forgotten to take a drink with me, and was starting to get one of my dehydration headachesSo I got a bottle of water (19p) and gave in to a pack of almond cakes that I love (50p for 6)
All in all not the lowest spend day I've ever had, but waaaaaay less spent than I used to spend in a single lunch-time when I worked in the city centre - and none of it was 'tat' - so I'm not annoyed with myself about itCheryl0 -
number 18 for me please, which means I've hit my target :j :j :j

Caught a haggis and ate it tonight, with the traditional neeps and tatties.
A day of mixed fortunes for me - had to get an emergency appointment at the dentist for (what turned out to be) an abcess. The dentist drilled, poked and prodded after using heaps of anaesthetic to numb practically my whole face and then announced that she couldn't find the nerve or root canal so she would do something temporary to relieve the pain and give me antibiotics. This would ease the pain for about 3 weeks after which it would return "with a vengence" :eek:unless I find a dentist in the next 3 weeks to do a permanent repair. I should say we have a shortage of NHS dentists up here - more rare than wild haggis.
But I did have an NSD - in too much pain to think of food. Fortunately dh bought the food to celebrate Burns Night.
So #15 and target achieved:j
Now I'm off to bed with a small(ish) brandy as it's been a stressful day. There's some are fou o' love divine, There's some are fou' o' brandy - Rabbie Burns, The Holy Fair0 -
