Now it seems Cheryl's gone awol too:(You're quite right, haven't seen Pure Dead Dopey for a while, and it's very unlike Cheryl not to post - hope you're both ok :grouphug:solventsoon wrote: »Not sure where Cheryl is, I think she was working a lot though..Cheryl - missing your posts, hope all is well with you:question:Cheryl - where are you? we miss you...and your whoopies :rotfl: hope you're ok?
Just catching up now..... I'm set to 40 posts/page (rather than the default 20), and am currently on page [strike]19[/strike] [strike]20[/strike] 21 of 26 so I'm getting there slowly
been a tad 'distracted' this month - [strike]partly[/strike] mainly with an 'outside interest' which has lost me 2 NSDs, but also with the rather hectic Frugal Living thread (which has had my on-line priority)ditto the comments about Cheryl - hope everything is ok x
Belated wishes from me - and don't worry about the number that was attached to it..... unfortunately I can't drop any from mine due to the age of my DD !!!
(a week on Sunday I'll be 1.5x your age )LadyfromVenice wrote: »Was wondering where our Cheryl had gone. I miss her whoopsie updates and running exploits. Hope all is well with her. She made a real difference to my freezer usage last year, I was cramming things in all over the place. I never realised you could freeze so much! I was also thinking of joining Couch to 5K as her running had inspired me so much (note to self - stop thinking and do it!).Cheryl0 -

As you can imagine it's been an incredibly stressful week after being told of my redundancy on the 4th Jan (happy new year indeed). I haven't had any chance to keep up with this thread so hope everyone else is keeping well and racking up the NSDs.
I have managed to accrue 8 NSDs mainly due to not feeling like eating much and being flat out at work - I swear I've worked harder for them this week than at any point in the last 7 years!!!! - but it's almost over now, we close today and then it's just pottering about tidying, skipping stuff, finalising banking etc, etc. I'll be glad when it's over now to be honest.
On a more positive note there may be something in the pipeline that would be [STRIKE]pretty good[/STRIKE] amazing. I don't want to say too much and jinx it but suffice to say that I've been made a good offer and I'm going for "informal" chat next Thursday, fingers crossed. It seems to good to be true that I could be in the position of being offered something in the same line, at not much less money and that I've been approached about it rather than me applying, so I refuse to get too excited yet, but I will let you know how it goes next week.
Hi TH, yes of course we've missed you, welcome back.
Great news about the potential job, fingers and toes crossed for you xJust catching up now..... I'm set to 40 posts/page (rather than the default 20), and am currently on page [strike]19[/strke] 20 of 26 so I'm getting there slowly

Hi Cheryl and welcome back to you as well, we've missed you and your posts, the place isn't the same without you:(.
Spotted you on the frugal living thread and was thinking about joining, but I think that may be a bit hardcore for me at the moment, working up to that ...
Good to see you again

Hi all
found this thread yesterday - not quite sure how to do this, but here goes . . . .
please can I join in with this ?
I've already had 4 NSDs in January, but can I say I'll go for 9 this month
thanks spoon, for including me
:hello:Hi shedstar and welcome
That's all you need to put, post and say you'd like to join and we'll enroll you into the nutty club:D
You can choose whatever number of NSDs you think you'd like to go for - there are no communal rules here, you make your own up as it's your challenge to help you spend less money and only you know your priorities and circumstances.
If you need any help, advice or a gentle kick up the bum:D, just ask, we're very friendly and willing to help or advise if we can.
We'll add you to the front page later, consider yourself a fully enrolled member of the NSD gang now. Well done for the 4 you're already got and good luck with the remaining 5, your prize awaits:D

DH has his work "Christmas" thing next week, and ive dropped 5 dress sizes since the last time I needed to wear anything remotely formal lol, luckily I can borrow my sisters clothes now but I needed to get a couple of bits to go with it and a new pair of boots, which I needed anyway, but I bought a pair of £60 knee high boots, and a necklace and earing set in debenhams using a gift card I got for Christmas...the jewellery was 60% off and the boots were half price...I paid £3.50!! Before this challenge, I wouldnt have spent all day wondering around and looking for the cheapest thing..I probably would have bought the first thing I saw. And the second. And everything else. My whole perception of money has changed..and for the first time ever, if we cant afford it, or its only a want and not a need, im not buying. If anything, im even more proud of myself for the way my attitude has changed than the NSDs! Today should hopefully be NSD4, unless DH puts petrol in the car...the light is flashing...!
Well done on the weight loss bella, that's fantastic:j:j and on the spending yesterday, you got some bargains there. :T

Pheww!!! All caught up - just in time to start getting ready for work
LFV - really, really sorry to hear about your dog
TH - sorry to read about your redundancy, but best of luck with the possible new source of income
I've fallen badly behind with everything at the moment, and still need to update my spreadsheets from 16th Dec onwards
But I do know that I'm on a lousy 2/10 NSDs so far this month - one being 1st, and the other being 8th.
Went out to meet someone on Sat 1st, but thanks to a free car park at the Country Park (and taking a picnic) I managed to keep that as my 1st NSD
Went over to his on Sun 2nd to install some s/ware on his laptop, but stayed a lot longer than planned. So when we went for a walk around the locality in the evening I ended up picking up some munchies (salted peanuts and a banana)
On Mon 3rd I went to Mr T to top up on a few items I needed at some point that week - and to fill my fuel tank (before the vat increase), which wouldn't have managed another return trip to his (can see I'm going to have to up my petrol allowance, as I'm looking at an 80 mile round trip every time I go across, and have already used half this tank!)
Tues 4th saw my first D/Debits of the year
Wed 5th was Whoopsies from work - including some blocks of cheese (29p for over 600g) and sliced B/Math Turkey. got 2 of each and took 1 of each to his place on 6th.
Thur 6th I went over to his again, taking over some bits and pieces to tide him over a rough financial patch (no point having stuff here unused/going rusty if someone else can make use of it until they can afford something more permanent). But although I didn't spend while over there, I'm pretty certain I picked up some more bits while leaving work.
Fri 7th - more Whoopsies as best I recall (really must get my s/sheet up-to-date)
Sat 8th - NSD #2 at last
Sun 9th - spent on something.... I'm sure I did, but my memory "isn't what it used to be". Praise be I keep all my receipts
Mon 10th - D/Debits.... and a car park fee at a hospital. He wasn't good after a minor crash in the morning (fortunately only him, his works van and a central reservation on the slip road onto a m/way involved), and I got to his just ahead of the ambulance - so then followed them up to the hospital and spent just short of 4 hours in A&E with him before they decided to keep him in overnight.
Tues 11th - My late night/early morning supper hadn't agreed with me (normally have the constitution on a Ox, so guess it was partly due to the stress as well), so didn't make it into work. This would have meant an NSD, but I then got a text at lunch time (by when I was feeling reasonably OK) to say they were discharging him and he was making his own way home (no money = walking, and it's normally a 40 minute walk when he's not in the pain he was in), so he was told - in no uncertain terms - to stay put until I got there. Ran him home and stayed around for a while to check he was OK - and bobbed out to get him some bread and milk (seriously short of both, and wanted to be sure he could have breakfast the next day). Let's just say I'm sure C0stcutters could be done under Trades Description for using that name for their stores
Wed 12th (yest) - more Whoopsies.Cheryl0 -
let me declare NSD 2 today :j

Bella - I used to do exactly the same as you until I joined here, well done on the bargains and the weight loss - you will look a million dollars! I love giftcards - esp when you walk out of the shop with a bagful of goodies having spent little or no money!:money:
Hope you enjoy the "do":)
Cheryl - hooray - you're back:j. We really miss your chat. I can see you've been busy the last couple of weeks - am I sensing a little :happyhear in the air?
Funnily enough, today has turned out to be a NSD for me, despite a spend. The aforementioned vouchers in my purse were smouldering so much I had to let them out in the bookshop. Treated myself to three books! In my defence, they're the first new books I've bought for months. They were slightly over the value of the vouchers ( typical), but the overspend is offset by some Amazon sales I've made so money neutral! I am delighted too, few things make me happier than a new shiny book!
So not going anywhere now, #9 in the bag!:j

Just good friends while getting to know each other a little better at the moment, but who knows where it might leadCheryl0
