Helped by my only trip out being to the library... Good news though, I can get books out at my local uni library (even though I don't go there, go to uni in the next city... living here is all to do with Mr L really) as I'm a postgrad! So don't have to get on the train every time I need a book! (If they have it of course...

Hi Lotti - with my library, I can reserve the books I want online. Then, when they are ready for collection, they ping me an email. Saves a lot of unnecessary trips. Maybe yours offers the same service?Rodents & door furniture Nargle..RAT-a-TAT-Two-wee :rotfl:
OMG! That made me chuckle, so silly but very funny!
Yes, a shindig is very much in order. I'll get my kilt and sporran out again for Burns Night. I've just got it back after getting it cleaned after the St Andrews Night stramash. Any excuse for a man in a skirt on this thread;)
Chinese New Year sounds right up my street! Can we have a dragon? Can we, can we!:j
Also, we must remember to save the date for the Royal Wedding - I assume we're all going to that?:rotfl:
Pleased to report #8 for yesterday. They're stacking up gradually!
I have today off, so I'm going to the libary and I have also got some Love 2 Shop vchrs burning a hole in my purse, so I may have a mooch around Water$tones.
Other than that, I am going to enjoy my day off and relax a bit.:)
LFV - I cannot tell you how sorry I was to hear about your dog. As you know, I have a much loved dog myself. I know how awful it is to have to make that decision when the time comes, as I've had to do it in the past. My heart goes out to you and your family, and I send you all my sympathy and best wishes ((((((hugs))))).
I'll pop back later to catch up with you all,
Have a lovely dayeveryone

Hi guys, just thought I'd drop in for a quick update (incase anyone had missed me!). As you can imagine it's been an incredibly stressful week after being told of my redundancy on the 4th Jan (happy new year indeed). I haven't had any chance to keep up with this thread so hope everyone else is keeping well and racking up the NSDs.
I have managed to accrue 8 NSDs mainly due to not feeling like eating much and being flat out at work - I swear I've worked harder for them this week than at any point in the last 7 years!!!! - but it's almost over now, we close today and then it's just pottering about tidying, skipping stuff, finalising banking etc, etc. I'll be glad when it's over now to be honest.
On a more positive note there may be something in the pipeline that would be [STRIKE]pretty good[/STRIKE] amazing. I don't want to say too much and jinx it but suffice to say that I've been made a good offer and I'm going for "informal" chat next Thursday, fingers crossed. It seems to good to be true that I could be in the position of being offered something in the same line, at not much less money and that I've been approached about it rather than me applying, so I refuse to get too excited yet, but I will let you know how it goes next week.0 -
Finger's crossed for you hazel.£71.93/ £180.000

I am sorry to report that today we lost our brave Dobey. DH couldn't let her suffer any longer as she was unable to stand this morning. Unfortunately as I was at work he had to go through it himself. She was very poorly as vet (a lovely girl who, the first time she saw our dog wanted to breed her!) said she went very quickly with the same amount they use for a small cat.
Family are distraught, especially DS2 who is only six months older than she was. We got her aged 18 months as a rescue dog but have been lucky to have had 4 1/2 years with her. It's come as such a shock as it's all happened so quickly.
DH couldn't praise the vets enough as they were just wonderful. So I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Haven Veterinary Services in Great Yarmouth, they made an awful job for DH a lot more easier.
Finding it hard to keep strong for DH after all that's happened over the last three months but there are people who've been through worse.
Doesn't seem quite right but anyway NSD 8 today.
I am so sorry to hear your news. I is such a sad time and very hard for everyone. Please remember it is a loss for you aswell so if/when you need to scream/shout/cry then feel free I am sure hubby and family would understand. More hugs coming at you xxxtwistedhazel wrote: »On a more positive note there may be something in the pipeline that would be [STRIKE]pretty good[/STRIKE] amazing. Oooh fingers x'd for you - I too am looking at a change (although not due to losing my job but because in a few months my family life is going to take a massive change and unless I do something about it I'm basically screwed for work).
Ok well it took me a while to catch up, feels like ages since I was last on but suspect it was just I missed one day :rotfl:. Came on to update but now cant remember what number I am at. Will go check and come back and declare
Yesterday was indeed NSD 6 for me

Yesterday was most definitely not an NSD for me, but I wasn't planning one so im ok with it! DH has his work "Christmas" thing next week, and ive dropped 5 dress sizes since the last time I needed to wear anything remotely formal lol, luckily I can borrow my sisters clothes now but I needed to get a couple of bits to go with it and a new pair of boots, which I needed anyway, but I bought a pair of £60 knee high boots, and a necklace and earing set in debenhams using a gift card I got for Christmas...the jewellery was 60% off and the boots were half price...I paid £3.50!! Before this challenge, I wouldnt have spent all day wondering around and looking for the cheapest thing..I probably would have bought the first thing I saw. And the second. And everything else. My whole perception of money has changed..and for the first time ever, if we cant afford it, or its only a want and not a need, im not buying. If anything, im even more proud of myself for the way my attitude has changed than the NSDs! Today should hopefully be NSD4, unless DH puts petrol in the car...the light is flashing...!January grocery challenge- £338.09/£350
£365 in 365 days- £25
January NSDs- 9
Money made on ebay- £16.89
