I was able to claim for exemption even though I work full time, so I assume the £5kish figure applies to your self employed I come alone rather than your total income.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A
  • Ahh great stuff, i definately don't earn that much off Avon haha! So I am exempt from paying NI, I presume I still have to pay tax on the avon earnings?

    Thanks again!

Hi decided to join you all after stalking/lurking for the last part of last year. I'm a sah mum of nearly 3yr old twins and started doing avon about a year and a half ago as a way of earning without leaving the twins. I love it and have quite a large customer base (nearly 100 of which I get 40-60 orders per book) which keeps me busy.Hoping to get to know you all better.

Happy New Year all! Hope you are feeling fresh for the new year!

aureol212 I was trying out the nectar thing too - as far as I can see on my statement it hasn't worked but I'm not sure I had that many points before. Also the points on my statement add up to less than the total at the bottom?...Not sure if that has anything to do with it?! But I will note my total now and then try again this time.

National insurance I'm sure someone on the old thread (sorry I can't remember who!) mentioned they had had a NI bill. I've just been sent the same but I am very confused as I havn't provided them with any information about my earnings yet (not due to be filled out yet) so don't know where they have got the number to bill me from...anyone come accross this?

the nectar points for buying online from Avon, show up under Nectar estores, mine is 0.

was going to reply about the NI, but see you have already received helpful replies :)

you will only need to pay tax if you owe tax ;) when you submit your first self employment statement, ensure you claim for ALL your expenses, Electric/Gas, paper, printer, books, bags, stationery, etc.

Now well over HOV thanks to a couple of good orders, still with books to collect tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday so C2 has been quite good for me :)

Hi Stepmum, I am only on my 3rd campaign.....tips on how to get 100 customers would be appreciated, I have about 26 at the moment, of which only 5 have ordered so far this campaign :(. I have reached mov but really want to get to hov.

Dingdong, if you are over the tax threshold for your employed work then you will have to pay tax on all your Avon earnings. :(.

I'm very lucky because when I started no-one else in my town was doing Avon and hadn't for a few years. Now there are about 3 of us. I did rubbish to start as the territory I was given was mainly holiday lets. So asked for more and was told as no-one else did it I could go where I wanted, so I picked the roads that I knew were heavily populated. Now when I want to add more I put a note through with an old book asking if they are interested. This way I only have to canvass a new road once. I know a lot of others on here do that too.
Good luck I'm sure it will pick up. My last campaign (2) was my worst in months if that is any consulation.
