As A & mc says there's different ways of getting new reps, I like leafleting houses (doesn't need to be vacant territory as lots of people only want to do f&f plus there might be territory free close by), I like doing expired brochure drops with leaflet attached on Vacant territory. You can ask neighbouring asms for vacant territory for this.

Mc - I seem to remember you lined up some people for signing before you became a sl and few of them came of - even if you've got no one lined up for joining if you want to become a sl may as well take the plunge and start - most of the bonuses now aren't time dependent like they used to be, so even if it takes a while to get going you can still get bonuses.

  • Sunrise Alarm Clock - Any one know if the one in HT 5 is the same as the one in Campaign 3 (pg 188), they seem to be different when you read the description but look the same?????

Don't know for sure but one says it takes 6 batteries and the other says it takes 4 so looks like they're different. The sizes quoted are slightly different too. (Avon prob just used the wrong photo for one of them.)

Why not order both and then see which you/r customer prefers?

Ohh, you've such a good memory; yes, I lined up 5 people to sign up right from the start (arranged for 3 to be at the same meeting so they'd get signed up at the same time - they were all related). Theoretically, it should've been a breeze...... Despite that it took me quite a few campaigns before I qualified: one didn't turn up; one changed her mind due to lack of OH support; and the one, who did sign up, turned out to not be very good at managing money so turned into a Debt Address within a few campaigns!

I seem to find it easier to attract new customers rather than reps so quite a few on my team are ex-customers, who have become reps. Whatever works, works. :rotfl:Means my sales suffer, of course, but my ex-customer reps get off to the easiest possible start because when they sign up they get a ready-made customer base if they want it.

Uses for SSS Dry Oil Spray - I found the list of these on the old thread and some of the points refer to the bath oil instead of the SSS spray. Are the two products just as good as each other? Is it just the application that's different? i.e. the spray would be better for using as an insect repellent on the skin, but the oil would be easier to use if you have to dilute it?

Thanks for any help you can give. I've started selling Avon at the place I volunteer but it's not somewhere I'll be expecting lots of make-up/jewellery sales. I'm going to be promoting toiletries, footworks stuff, and things with practical applications like the SSS Spray.

The products are slightly different i.e. the bath oil is heavier/more 'oily' than the dry oil spray. I find the dry oil spray is not oily enough so I tend to mix the two together so I get an oilier spray.

Some sufferers of psoriasis find that the bath oil helps if applied directly to the skin so putting it in a spray bottle helps. Having said that I suggested it to a new customer recently and it made her skin flare up so dooo be careful when suggesting any 'unusual' uses for these products.

Lots of us created out own notes from the original American list; mine prints out double-sided on A4 so when folded it becomes an A5 size pamphlet. PM me if you'd like a copy.

Yeah just shows even you think you have people to join it might not pan out, a lot of people (myself included) join with only their oh to sign up lol, which was why I originally became a sl as oh was going to join anyway so figured I may as well sign him.

  • If anyone has an 'expired brochure' leaflet they wouldn't mind sharing with me please PM :)

Also is there anyone who has had any joy from avon connect (new customers) as I have given up on it completely!

I didn't realise how many of the campaigns were short so only given brochures to about 18 customers this time, will collect on wednesday in time for the order to go in on thursday. Could really do with a few extra pennies at the moment and doing every thing I can to make some! Continuing with online surveys and going to ratch for a few ebay items, although its not long since I ebayed last so not sure if I've got anything worthwhile selling!

Thanks everyone for their thoughts on the Dry Oil Spray. I'm in the middle of formatting the text I copied and pasted from the old thread so I'll adapt it.

monaebrook - I always take what people say with a pinch of salt when it comes to "another rep already covers this street". If I've been allocated the street I carry on and find out what's really going on. Maybe there is a rep who covers it fully - in which case there's been a mistake and there's not much point in you continuing with it. In my experience I've found that whoever I've spoken to was wrong. One customer of another rep said they covered the whole street and it had the tone of "you won't have much success with this road". Got 2 customers and 1 other person reading a book - none got books from the other rep. Some had never had one and another had stopped getting them because her orders weren't "big enough". So there may be plenty of room left for you to find some new customers.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

    TIA Neffy x

I agree, when I first started I had a lady tell me there was a rep already on a street I was given - however in 2 years never seen any other house with her brochures, no one else ever gets a book from anyone other than me, only that one house. Presumably the rep who *used* to have the street, kept that one lady one, and never explained to her that she was giving her territory up. Was easy to work out saying as theres 40 houses, I have a few other customers, and only that one house gets a book from someone else.
