I stuff & run but have a flyer in with the book introducing me in with the books & I always return when I say I will ;) If they don't leave the book out in the AM when I ask them to (on the flyer) I put a calling card through and return that evening ;) If they still haven't left it out I knock and ask for it back ;)

This campaign hasn't gone to that plan quite as well as normal because it was torrential rain here yesterday morning and I got soaked to the point I started shivering (and had wet underwear despite wearing a waterproof coat it came down so sudden and hard ) so thought "Books or health? HEALTH!" and came home earlier than planned! I did go back out last night and collected the remaining books though ;):rotfl:

I used to order 50 books at a time but that wasn't enough if I want to canvass the rest of my territory, so I've upped it to 100. Yes this means I have to pay out £14 on books, but I'm averaging £25 a week income so I don't mind "investing" 1 weeks money back into it ATM ;) I leave the books with the customers for 1 week, and then it gives me a weekend to chase up the stragglers ;) Its working out great for me ATM as I have customers who have never ordered before ordering this time around :D:jAlso had 4 customers on my new road ordering and a few others who said they'll order next time now they can put a face (and child :rotfl:) to me, even more handy is that some of them are parents from school so they know me from the playground ;):D ETA: I do use the last campaign books for canvassing new streets, I don't just let them sit around doing nothing.

There are a few Polish people around here, but a lot are muslim and only speak Arabic :( I should really get the Arabic teacher to do me a flyer to explain that I am here to collect the avon book I put through a few days ago. :rotfl: Since she's a customer she would probably do it as well :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi Nicki,

Presumably as time goes on you'll establish who actually wants a book so you won't need to order as many.

Similarly, do you leave books a full week because it suits you? (3-4 days is usually enough, especially if you're trying to cover a large area) and, of course, you don't have to cover ALL your territory in one campaign.

As you've already noticed, people will order from you once they 'know your face'.... OK, you're going back when you say you will but there are a lot of people, who flatly refuse to entrust an order to someone they've not even met.

Don't want to put a downer on your modus operandi and totally up to you how you run your own Avon business but I'm astounded at how much you are spending on books - you sure it's an investment?

As for your Arabic patrons - 'merhaba' (hello) should at least help break the ice.

    Good luck.

Expanding your territory - what MarsdenCuckoo says about reaching your sales target for the streets then asking for more makes complete sense - although you may find you're able to get more before that point. Ask when you feel you're ready - whether that's sooner or later - but there's no harm in asking. They might want to make you wait a few campaigns just to be sure you're going to stick at it and pay your balance.

I say this just because in my case I got some extra streets before the end of my first campaign, and have been able to get plenty of extra ones even though I'm not hitting the sales targets expected (even with additional F+F and networking orders). I asked my ASM about this the other day - how much importance did she place on reaching those figures? She said firstly, if I was way under the expected amount, she'd be in touch to see what I could do to improve things. She said issues like not placing orders at all or paying my balance would be the sort of thing to lead to de-allocation - and I'd still be told about it first.

My situation seems to be the exception - I read of so many reps struggling to get any area at all. The ASM was even encouraging me to take on more and I took 1 extra street because I walk up and down it anyway. Other than that I've kind of reached my limit for now.

I've got 625 houses approx. and I worked out that 150 of those are on streets where I've got 1 or 0 customers (and they've been worked for at least a few months - I didn't count the streets I've just got). My plan is to re-canvas twice between now and Christmas, then lose the awful streets.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

WOW, IG, how different things are in different parts of the country. I live in a small market town of 3,000 houses and at the last count there are 27 reps here so guess that explains a lot!

Enjoy all those houses to go at. :j

As you say, provided you run your Avon business effectively and efficiently, communicating well with your upline then you should get all the support you need.

I've always spent a lot on books, I leave them for a week as it suits us & our customers, some take them into work/show their family so it gives them the time to do this. I also have everyone on the current brochure now - so that the previous books can be use for my team. Saves us a lot of time, as it's one day for collection and then we're done, fits in great around our shifts and otherwise I would limited as to the time I have spare for recruiting as I'd be collecting in books on more days.

MC - everyone is different, I know you do fab with just a few books, but a lot of people, myself included, prefer to spend a little more on books to save ourselves as many trips, which with how much petrol costs is an investment lol.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

Point taken, lozza. All depends on what you actually want out of Avon - I started really for 'a bit of something to do' and to encourage me to get some exercise so traipsing back 'n forth falls in with that.

Nice to see all the new names on here but where have the other (ex) regulars gone? Connects?

I book drop on the tuesday/wednesday for collection the following monday so mine are left for almost a week. Suits my busy customers and those who want to browse it with mothers/daughters/neighbours. Only leave for 2/3 days if recanvassing though.

My numbers of books has gone up in the last few months as I've been trying to get current and previous out to customers in one fell swoop freeing up my time in the week before ordering for stragglers and recanvassing.

Think I may need to reduce my books again and split it back down to dropping over two weeks as I wont be recanvassing again til after summer. I currently only get 45 books and do lose a few to shops/playgroup.

Hitting MOV and HOV - exceptions

A few months ago on here someone posted a couple of situations where hitting HOV or MOV could be effected even though it would be out of our control.

For example, one situation was that any items showing as OOS before your place your order don't count towards reaching MOV/HOV.

Would whoever posted these little loopholes mind posting them again, and also where you found them?

Thanks - someone on Connects had asked.

I've just checked and the population of my village is nearly 4000. The ASM said she could only see 4 reps in the village - me included. Although when I mentioned I knew who a couple of them were, and one was a man, she said that was odd because no men's names appeared in the list. All we could think is that it's in the wife's name. He's been doing it for years and I find a customer of his dotted about here and there.
