Well, Penpen, I rather fancy the smoked salmon tart ;)

Could you share a recipe? Sounds yum!
  • PenPen, I agree, the smoked salmon tart sounds wonderful! DH doesn't like fish, but then I could make mini versions for myself. Thanks for starting the thread. :) Here's my mealplans for the coming week (and I mean to stick to them!)

Mon - Sweet & Sour Prawns with Noodles (need to buy a small tin of pineapple chunks)
Tues - Sub Pizzas, made using the sub-style rolls
Weds - The only day I'm not sure of yet.
Thurs - Pork Fajita-style Wraps with crispy veggies
Fri - Sausage Casserole with Jacket Potatoes
    Sat - Moussaka
Sun - Lamb Tikka Skewers with Salad

Lunches will be leftovers or more likely sandwiches. During the last part of the year I got rather lax and started buying ready-made sandwiches from town at lunch and I need to get back into my money-saving ways! So snacks will be fruit and I shall bake a batch of muffins to use up some bananas which are on the turn and some apricot bars in an attempt to be a bit healthier too! The cakes will double as puds, although we usually always have yoghurts in. Oh, and the only thing that won't be homemade from the above list will be the fajita seasoning as I've never been able to duplicate a "good-enough" version myself. :)

    Have a good week, everyone.

Gladly ;) It uses up leftover smoked salmon, cream, and the excess eggs, as my chooks have decided to start laying again :j

Shortcrust pastry case, put in smoked salmon, mix eggs and cream and add them, top with grated cheese and bake until the egg is set.

Thanks, PenPen - mine haven't stopped laying at all so I'm always glad to do something with eggs!

    This sounds scrumola.

    My list is now:

Su - Roast turkey et al (leftover turkey sliced and reheated)
M - HM pancakes stuffed with ham and leeks
    T - Spanish omelette
W - Pasta with roast mediterranean veg and mozzarella
Th - Rice with chicken and mushrooms
    F - Is takeaway night
    Sa -SMOKED SALMON TART!!

Good news is I can cook all of this without buying anything. Woohoo!

    Happy New Year all...
  • Can I join in please - I'm going to be very broke in 2011, due to getting a grip on my debts so I thing meal plans are definitely the was to go - no more popping into a supermarket for a carrot and coming out with £20 worth of stuff

Here's my plan for this week.

Today: Porridge / Spag bol / cheese and ham wrap (to eat at work)
Saturday: Porridge / soup / cottage pie (made with leftover bol)
Sunday: Toast and jam / soup / chickpea curry
Monday: Toast and jam / stir fry / fish cakes and beans
Tuesday: Porridge / beans on toast / chickpea curry
Wednesday: toast and jam / pittabread pizza / stir fry
Thursday: porridge / soup / pittabread pizza
Friday: porridge / soup / Tuna, tomato and pasta
Saturday: toast and jam / tuna and tomato rice / ?
Sunday: toast and jam / roast pork with any trimming I can locate / pork sandwich.

That seems easy enough with some variety so I won't get bored. I'm working from home this week so can make everything. I also cook everything from scratch and the bread is from the bread maker. Also I'm going to get some banana and apples - to snack on in between as I'm also try to lose weight :o

Looking forward to the pork as I bought it in case I was trapped at home for christmas - but I made it to my parents - so its going to be my January treat :T
  • I have a list of meals that i can make with the stuff i already have in, but i havent set them into days

    chicken dinner
sweet and sour chicken and rice
    sausage casserole
    toad in the hole
    turkey drummers with chips/jacket
    hot dogs
chicken wraps(weekend lunches for me and hubby?)
    cheese burgers
    pizza baguettes
    spag bol
    scampi new pots and veg
    tuna pasta bake
    omelette chips and beans

am trying to run down the freezer and do minimal shoping(hopefully just bread and milk) till the 10th
Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T
