Crazy 2011 clothes challenge

Hmmmm...
I know I should watch what I spend on clothes, but haven't been worrying about it as I've got a lot better recently at only buying things I really will wear. Maybe I have finally learnt the difference between 'that's a beautiful work of art', 'that would look good on me' and 'that would look fab on me and would actually get to leave my wardrobe on occasion' :rotfl: .
I have no idea what I spend (and am too scared to add it up lol), but I ought to not impulse buy (gorgeous silk MaxMara evening dress from charity shop case in point, ok only £50 but still haven't found excuse to wear it) and I ought to fess up to stuff I don't wear and sell it (instead of allowing it to fester and make me feel guilty while earning nothing). Can I pledge to only buy things I definitely love and will wear, and to sell/ donate anything I don't? That should make me think about whether I really will wear things and nag me into doing some Ebaying.

Hi
I did this in 2009 and would love to come back. I really relate to Buffy's post - I had a colour and style analysis done last year to help boost my confidence and would like to build on this. I have set aside 25 p/m so will aim for £300. I am also planning on losing weight so this may have to change.

I am blessed & honoured, Shoe Gal has joined the Humble Clothes Challenge :j I really hope this works for you & doesnt become a chore. It starts off being fun but there are a few low moments throughout the year that are tough. Like you, I will also be keeping any gift cards or cash separate form the main challenge. Already have £25 M&S + £10 cash gift to add

Welcome aboard to everyone
lots of names I am already aware of ; Swinstie73, tiny_courageous, Snowdonlily, elfen, Shoe Gal, Buffy & RosaBernicia & urg123 :A & some new names belonging to people I hope to get to know over the next 12 months; snoppydog & Meersy22
.
Glad to hear that you are happy to be here with your own budget Buffy :T. I tend to wear black a lot too, mainly to work as it's easy. I think any item of clothing that lifts your mood or gets you a compliment is worth wearing, high fashion or not
. Being happy & feeling confident has far more value than being bang on trend, no matter what ANYONE else says or thinks.

Hi Lula
I would love to join this challenge if I may?
I have budgeted for £20 per month so £240 for the year on clothes related items
I'm looking forward to the challenge.

& will add you to the list right away

I tried desperately to do this last year but by the time my wedding came around I simply stopped! One thing I did manage to do was stop spoiling my DH and children so much!
I would love to join and pledge a limit of £600 for myself. It's high but I have a mishmash of a wardrobe that lacks the basics for work and play so not only will I be trying to be more elegant in how I dress but will be investing in some key pieces!
My weakness is bargains. I have a cashmere gown which only cost me £25 in the sale but no need for it! I loved the fact it was such a bargain (down from £199).
I will be eBaying loads of unworn clothing but I also know I donated most of my summer stuff to the charity shop!!!
Bring on 2011 and a £600 all clothing related spend threshold!Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

Too bluddy right I was - dont you dare buy clothes in Tatco
Wit40iwtwan - welcome & I've realised it's far better to have a realistic budget you can stick to ... as long as you can afford it without resorting to CC of course
I know all about bargains too. I've recently dontaed 2 pairs of almost unworn boots that were 'bargains'
Will add you to the list

Hi everyone!
I'm a lurker on practically everyone's diaries, but rarely post. I would like to join this challenge if that's OK.
Put me down for £200 please!
My real target isn't realy sticking to the budget (although obviously that would be good) but to stop buying things which I don't need and which I won't end up wearing. I bought a lot of stuff last January and February that I still haven't worn
The other thing is that when I give myself a clothes budget I find myself avoiding buying things I do need in favour of buying things I don't need but I really want. For example, I've needed new knickers for ages but I keep spending my clothes budget on new tops (of which I have loads!) So I'm going to make sure I don't do that this year.
I won't post much (too shy
) but I'll update my total and I'll be reading everyday.
Good luck everyone!
