  • Still can't sleep and just ended up in tears. I curse that appointment for ruining my evening. I've had so much fight in me over the last few years and had to tackle so many things, I've just reached the tired and worn out stage. I've got nothing left to give, but I have to keep going, because I wake up each morning, and each day rolls into the next. I don't know what I want to do anymore, but given the choice, I'd do the whole self sufficiency thing now. I'm sick of people (well for the most part, apart from the lovely bods on here), they're selfish, they're pushy and rude. There's the constant need to prove yourself and perform. You can't change career, and every path that I try to go down seems to be pulled from underneath me. I just want to get off the hamster wheel and have a break. There just seems to be very little enjoyment in life at the moment and not much hope for the future. That may seem a little melodramatic but I'm just plain worn out. I daren't mention this to the doctor in case he says I'm depressed.

  • Do you know I could really kick myself now for letting that muppet make me lose a nights sleep. I got 1 1/2 hours in the end. That should be interesting trying to function today. Oh well at least it's friday.

  • Well I survived that day on 1 1/2 hours sleep and I only made one mistake. I've also just paid off my Barclaycard in full. I can't believe it, I actually can't believe it, it's surreal. I had the direct debit set up for 18th march and I was going to leave it that way. OH made the good point that why don't you just pay it now? What was I waiting for? I've paid enough interest out over the years, why leave the balance on there any longer and incur more.

I tell you, I had a right sweat on when I was doing it. I logged into internet banking and checked my balance and did the calculations for my money for the rest of the month about 4 times before I commited to paying off the full balance with my switch card.

I have done it. I now have two debts rather than 3 to deal with. I really can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I went on some training the other day. Dotted around the room were various inspirational quotes. One that I really liked said that you achieve something every day, write down those achievements and you can keep them forever. I really liked that, and this is something I am going to do. I'm also going to write down things I would like to do, and any of the roadblocks or things I need to do to achieve them.

  • So after yesterday's achievement in paying Barclaycard off, I have been doing my sums and wondering which debt to target next. I have £800 each month to pay off debts. At first I thought I would pay £600 off my virgin card to try and bring the balance down more quickly and carry on paying my set amount of £200 off the Loan. This makes sense according to the snowball thing, because Virgin card has interest on it every month and the loan has 6 more payments left on it, so interest has already been paid.

However now I have decided that I am going to focus on the loan first, as this is set at £200/month, and the minimum payment on the v card at the moment with this high balance is £74. So I'll be paying £600 off the loan and £200 off Virgin card, the same as I have been for the last few months, whilst I was concentrating on Barclaycard. This means that the loan will be cleared in the next two months and as well as cutting down on my minimum obligations in terms of paying things off, and reducing myself to one creditor, this will also be a mental boost aswell.

It seems like it has been ages that I have been planning coming to this stage, but now things are actually getting paid off, it seems like a dream.

I'll also be ebaying things to work away at the Virgin card too.

So just 4 weeks until I can walk into my bank and pay 1/2 my remaining balance on my loan off, 8 weeks until I can go and make the last payment on it. Meaning that I will have paid my loan off a whole 4 months early. I just hope I don't start blubbing at the counter in the bank when I go to do it.:)

  • I've had quite a reflective day today. I haven't touched a single bit of housework, and that has been good for me. I eagerly keep checking my Barclaycard online statement to see if they have updated it yet to read zero. I'm hoping they have done it by tomorrow. Feel like I'm properly on my way to my debt free journey now. I know you shouldn't wish your life away, but I'll be glad when this year is over. I have decided that I won't be keeping one credit card for emergencies, I'm cancelling as soon as they are paid. I feel that while they are present, they are a dark cloud and a weight hanging over me. If they are gone then a great weight has been lifted as there is no way I can have a repeat of this situation.

Well done on clearing your CC, must be a huge relief, I transfered a CC balance of aprox £330 recently to a 0% CC and have wrote to the original CC to tell them to close my account and that made me :j So to PAY OFF the balance must be  . You need to be proud of yourself and are inspiring so keep up the good work, i hope to write soon (well, soonish!) that i have cleared some debts too.

    Thanks and welcome MC :)

They are taking a very long time to allocate my payment. Possibly so that they can charge me more interest on my last statement. Cheeky devils. It's amazing how quickly they can up your interest rate, charge you for being late, all those kind of things. When it comes to their end of the bargain however, they seem a little slower. Oh well, I'm victorious, next statement which should just be for interest is the only money they will be getting out of me for the rest of my life.

Yes people, after this lot, I'm going against the grain, and I'm going to try and live a cash/switch life only!!

Ooh, and a 99p bid on my ebay item already. Cool!
