  • Had another good day today.

I finally psyched up the power to go and get something from the jewellers with the £50 deposit I had on account, after I had put this down as a deposit on an item last year, and then decided that I really couldn't afford it. It seemed like I was sat there for an eternity while the guy was out the back checking for the email, and I started to feel really bad about myself. Then I remembered that I certainly wouldn't have been the first person to do that, and I certainly wouldn't be the last person having financial difficulty, and instantly I felt better. Plus now I have a pair of stud earrings to put into the birthday present pot, for my mum.

Today I have received a free lemon and lime drink, free batteries, and two free books which were being saved from landfill. One of the free books was get the life you want by Richard Bandler-the guy who taught Paul McKenna. It even has the CD with it, which I didn't expect. It has loads of great stuff in about getting over phobias and other stuff.

Ooh and I lost another 2lb.

So all in all a very good day.

    :)

  • Hi thrifty,

how exciting that you will soon be making the last payment on that card and closing it forever! :j are you going to celebrate, however frugally? I certainly think the occasion should be marked in some way! :)

I have been reading about all your ups and downs, I hope there are more ups than downs lately as you start to get nearer the end of your journey and work things out in your head. Also congrats on the AF-ness - I am on the same mission at the moment. It is so far easier than I thought it would be (haven't done it for more than a couple of days at a time recently) although the weekend is coming up and that will be harder.

I am CIMA qualified - ACCA is certainly a worthwhile qualification. My CIMA took me a long slog of studying but I am glad I stuck it out. You do really have to like numbers and sums though! :rotfl: (and you don't have to be good with your own money, as long as you are good with everyone else's haha!)

    good luck with everything :)

    hi there
you seem to be really going through the mill with it at the moment. Can your OH help in anyway. Is he paying down his debts too?

Have you talked to your GP about the panicky and stressed feelings you have? You may be suffering from clinical anxiety which could be helped.

Well done on getting rid of the 'stuff' around you. I too share your clutter! And it gets me down too. but i have cleared two huge boxes of clothes this year, and I got a real sense of achievement from doing that..... I just have to find it again to get rid of the 3 boxes still to go:eek::eek::eek::eek:

    take care

  • Thanks guys. Do you know the emotional stuff seems to have cleared up since I have gone tea total and cut out the cola. I had a little drink of it yesterday and my pulse went really strong and slow in my neck-scary! So not going to touching that stuff again. I'm sleeping well and life is good. So no caffeine it is. :)

And yes I will be celebrating paying that card off. I'm going into M&S for a bag of their cheesy poofs. 49P well spent. :)

  • I have to be really careful with caffeine too. I did a 3 day detox last summer and after the initial caffeine withdrawal I felt so much better. the first time I had sugar afterwards (just a packet of smarties!) it hit me like a train and straight away I felt rotten again.

it's scary what supposedly normal stuff does to your body!

I drink mostly de-caff tea now - it's so much better than it used to be. I even found a nice de-caff earl grey! Now I just have one with caffeine in the morning and try and stay on the decaff the rest of the day.

i sleep much better, feel much better and also pee less! :rotfl:

I had a few haribos yesterday afternoon because they were in the cupbaord and i was boredom eating. i knew they would send me to sleep and make me feel rubbish and they did. They are going in the bin today!

keep up the good work :T

interesting about the sensitivity to different chemicals. I wonder how many people go through life feel carp, when just changing a few things could make them feel so much better. Nice to see that you are making progress with things. If you feel better then I am sure it will make the debt free journey so much easier

  • Morning!

Yes it is an early one. Woke at 3.30, guess that was the one little glass of wine I had last night. Couldn't get to sleep because there is the orchestra of next doors cockerel, other next doors overflow pipe dripping on our ladder-percussion, and the dulcit tones of OH snoring downstairs.Well I wasn't about to give up valuable double bed space, when he crashed and burned on the sofa last night.

Made some lipbalm yesterday with honey, almond oil and beeswax. Nice and moisturising, but I think the honey was a bit gritty, so slightly more exfoliating than I wanted.

Decided to have a check of ebay, and it is a free listing weekend at any starting price. Well that's my plan for today, photo and list everything I own. I did of course do the fantasy edit and preview my signature, for if I raised the funds needed. :)

And yes, you might have noticed I have updated my signature. Two weeks early, but mentally I just needed to change CC1 to £0. Wahoo.

  • Hmmm. Just checked ebay and have another message from the same person asking 'you agree to a buy it now £10 please', I responded to this question before and said that it is an open auction, so there is not a buy it now price. If there was, there would be one on there. Put your £10 down and see if you win. Easy. Grrrrr ebayers.

  • I've had a really positive weekend. Just a shame that the muppets that are ebay have taken the shine away. Here is was, with photos taken, ready to list every posession, which would hopefully leave me pretty much debt free, and then able to start helping OH clear his debts. Because a few mean people have given me 1+2 ratings for postage way back in August last year, this now means that I am limited to selling things at $150 per month. This means that I cannot list anything on this free listing weekend. I did feel really down for a while as I had finally decided to enough was enough with the clutter and the debt and that this was going to get sorted in the next few months.

Anyway, this is all just a test on our quest to become debt free. OH is going to open an account tomorrow and we will put the items on there.

This is just another rock in the road to my debt free journey. One thing I can be thankful for is that I'm not like one of those mean people. I'm a pleasant person , with a generally happy disposition, and that's more than they will ever be.
