hi all,
popped into my local sainsburys recently to find value shower gel at 10p. I went on mysupermarket.com and notice Tesco is doing the same. Has valued shower gel always been this cheap, and what is it like to use?

Hi
Don't know about sainsbury/tesco shower gel but my mum (who is very choosy and had VERY sensitive skin) swears by La Cura from Aldi. A little more than 10p but for less than a pound (different products in the range) 300ml+ of product can be yours.
I would buy one to try if your not sure, for 10p what do you have to lose!

The tesco one was rubbish, took a lot of gel to get a lather0

The tesco one is a bit gloopy - but it makes a GREAT travel wash for rinsing out clothes by hand when on holiday!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

IMO the tesco one smells really nasty.
It is quite cheap though, to buy own brand bubble bath, which smells much nicer and is basically the same and can be used on the same way as shower gel. Tesco have a large sea minerals bubble bath which I quite like, 55p for a litre which works out at 5.5p per 100ml, value shower gel is 3.3p. The value bubble bath is the cheapest though, but it smells as bad as the shower gel!0 -
I bought the Tesco Lilac and Silk Shower Creme, 45p for 300ml to try and am very pleased, smells nice with a nice texture. The Value shower gel does the job but does smell a bit medicated to me.0

Tesco one is gloopy, but it's fine for keeping in the swimming bag.0

Tesco's Value & Sainsbury's Basics shower gel was 10p for a long time but then went up to around 30p earlier this year. We use them both a lot in our house as OH works outdoors and gets very muddy every day, so ends up using tons of shower gel! (I save the better stuff for myself!!!)
I agree that the consistency is a bit different to more expensive gels (can be a bit 'blobby' and tends to run off your body if you don't lather it up quick enough!) but it basically does the job and gets you clean, just doesn't contain fancy oil/fragrances or moisturisers etc. Fragrance-wise, I agree the Tescos one smells a bit cheap - I prefer the JS one which smells of apples.
Asda Smart Price version is 7p (I think) but I think the bottle is a bit smaller than the others. Again it does the job but it is very very runny.
Boots Essentials blue shower gel (49p I think) is good if you want to spend a bit more. Packaging looks nicer (not so blatantly 'value') and smells more like a "spa" type fragrance.0
