  • Katie - Have a look at completed listings for your Empire magazines. They do seem to sell, and if there is something special in one people will pay a bit more. Worth a try! I have only ever given up on two items which nobody seemed to want, one was a belt and the other a top which I found hard to describe, so just put them in the charity bag. Everything else has sold eventually, and all these little 99p do add up over time. Keep trying.

I listed loads last weekend and got some good bids, so hope to get a few more by the time they end.

  • Had a message from ebay today to say that a buyer had tried to take out a buyer protection thingy but they had told the buyer it was too soon. I posted the item on 31st Jan, so it should have arrived by now but hasn't. I have contacted them to apologise and to offer a refund. Am cross though that they didn't bother to contact me first. Is it me or is that just bad manners???

It's completely bad manners! It also drives me mad when people expect you to magically know that something hasn't arrived!!
Royal Mail don't consider items 'lost' until at least 15 days (I'm pretty sure) so you wouldn't be able to put a claim in with Royal Mail yet anyway - so it's kind of unfair for the buyer to expect you to refund so soon.
I understand that the buyer needs to feel satisfied that they're not losing out but good communication should go a long way to help a matter like this get resolved amicably - sounds like they don't know the first about good communication though!

    Good luck :)

The people in the post office queue are going to hate me tomorrow, 26 items to post!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody walked out last week because of me, oops!! Doing really well this month, most of my stuff is selling really well. I had 5 items bought from a jumble sale (Jane Norman and Monsoon tops) which I paid £1 in total for and I made £31!!! Very pleased with that.

Yeah, I agree with you. Don't understand why they couldn't have contacted you first and advised you of the problem? Too many people are too quick to jump in without checking first!

got a message from them today to say that they will wait 2 more days and then they will open a case even though I offered them a full refund. Why would they do that, that is just mean.

That is really mean! Do they not realise that unfortunately items do go astray in the post. It's so frustrating, I hope you get it sorted xxx

I have to say most people who use Ebay are genuine and fine to deal with. Over the last few weeks I've come across some who aren't so nice, I guess it's just what we have to put up with (in all walks of life!) but it so annoying and frustrating just the same!

Miss empty piggy, don't be disheartened, there are some really awkward people around. I probably would've done the same as you. It's annoying when you have done what you should've done and are being penalised for someone else's mistake xxx

Nice one, well done. :jmakes me wonder if these people who do jumble sales realise how much they could make if they put them on ebay :o

I would've done the same, but I understand how annoying it is. Unfortunately with ebay there are a small minority who ruin it for the rest of us.

I listed a few more new items last night (by new items I means ones that I haven't relisted 1000x already) items last night, to end on Sunday. Two items sold today at 99p. Really not doing great atm, but tbh, that's all they were worth.
