Hi
[..]the buyer has already tried to open a item not rcieved they brought it last tuesday paid on thursday & I posted it on friday ! To be fair I would have expected it to be there !???? I have been as honest as I can be & asked for them to at least give me till friday (so a week in total!) as the post office are saying 15 working days! I have proof of postage!
Well, the buyer has not given you enough time for sure! If you posted on Friday before close, it might have left the Post Office on Saturday or Monday, it depends. They use "working days" and Saturday is not one of them. Let's say on Monday left your city, on Tuesday arrived the buyer's region/city and today it has been just at the sorting office. It might arrive tomorrow. I have added a line in my descriptions saying I will send within 24h of payment received and cleared as long as they pay before 5pm. Now I will add a second one about waiting a week or 5 working days before assuming it has been lost. First step is always check with the sorting office. I had a few problems two years ago for ignorance mainly, I put the items in a mailbox instead of going to the P.O. and there were not enough stamps, thus it was delayed. Now I go to the P.O. and ask for proof of postage. The girl at the P.O told me that when you print postage from Royal mail there is an option to ask for proof of postage, but I have not seen this yet. That buyer is being impatience. Tell him you have proof of postage and you will contact Royal Mail to enquiry about this. See if he shuts up and waits.CompletelyLost wrote: »
Also, I have a PS3 60GB to sell but I am worried about selling it on ebay... plus I'm not even sure what the going rate for them is?! It's my brother's and I don't want him being disappointed in the price so I'm thinking I might put it on Gumtree first to see if it gets any interest. I'd rather someone collected it and paid cash, than risk being scammed on ebay with it being such a big amount of money.
is it working?? Why does your brother want to sell it? PS3 60GB are the only ones that are backward compatible, so he can also play old PS1 and PS2 games in that one. The new ones do not have that option. People are trying to get hold of those ones like mad because Sony announced they could play old games in the console when they released but when they released the slim model they took off the option. You probably could get some money from it on eBay but then I would put collection only in case it breaks on its way. I have mine broken, waiting for a miracle lol. If it is broken, though, then just put recorded delivery. I sold a broken Xbox 2 years ago for £30 with a starting bid at 99p. Obviously whoever bought it knew how to repair it. You can always put a reserve, although I think items with reserve do not sell that well. I did a quick search on eBay and faulty ones with the "yellow ring of death" (so the light is yellow and the console does not switch on) are about £50ish, with any other component faulty, like the reader, for £80ish and still working for £100+. I have just seen a final bid for £300, that is more than a new one (slim). Offer a Buy it Now and see if it goes. If not, just relist (remember fees, though). I am holding onto mine even though it is broken and I have a slim one. I have a box full of old PS2 games and I just feel they are useless if I cannot find a way to repair that one.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I don't think he even paid £300 for it at the time, he told me he'd be happy with £150-200. But that's interesting to know... what I know about gaming you could write on the back of a postage stamp, so maybe I'm not the best person to be selling it for him
Definately do some research on this PS3, like martha said the first issues are highly sort after!! I want one but cant afford one!!they fetch more than a new one to buy!! We had one but it got stolen when we were broke into

If you put it on eBay, make sure you say that it's backwards compatible and can play PS2 games as well as PS3. Remember it is also a Blu-Ray reader, it connects to the internet and you have the BBC Ondemand channel, the 4OD and some other channel already included and set up. There is a channel for music videos exclusive to the PS3 and now you can have LoveFilm through it and you just download the movie in your PS3 instead of waiting for a DVD. Are you really sure he wants to get rid of it? Lol
The only PS3 that have those characteristics are the 60Gb and the 80Gb as far as I remember. ALSO, that one is the ONLY model with car reader, so you can just put the card from your camera or phone and see the pictures on the TV. New models do not have that. To be honest, if he really wants to sell it, I would put a high Buy it now like £350+, explain all this, say that it is new with all the box and everything, never repaired, never failed and hardly used. But again, you can use it as a DVD player, a BluRay player, to acces the BBC, 4 and ITV channels online (and see programs from the previous two weeks at any time), watch music videos, access photos from your camera directly on TV... etc etc etc. There are many other things but gaming that you can do with it.
Also, if he has not connected it to the internet for the last few months and he had not updated the system... tell him not to do it. Some people are mad for finding a PS3 with an old system, since they used to be able to put other operating systems like Linux and since a patch last year it cannot be done.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Hi everyone,
I've been a long time lurker/intermittent poster on the forums, and I think it's about time I joined a challenge! I already have lots of debts, and 2 jobs, but the money situation has been compounded further due to my partner finding work hard to come by recently (he's a self employed carpenter), so I have decided to try and earn even more extra pennies!
Anyway, I have decided to sell a bunch of stuff on eBay, so was hoping I could join in with this challenge?! I haven't been very successful so far - I've listed around 10 things since the turn of the year and only sold 2! And for not a lot of money at that - £8.50 is my total earnings (before fees) so far. Is this normal?! Could it be that I'm overpricing or just listing the wrong things?! I'm focussing on selling clothes at the moment, as I have lots of old, good quality stuff lying around that no longer fits but it doesn't seem to be attracting a lot of interest...
Any tips anyone might have would be most welcome!
Thanks,
Katie0 -

What sort of clothing do you have Katie? Good names to sell are: Per Una, Monsoon, higher end high street labels - even better if they have tags on.
And what prices are you starting things at?
How are you taking your photos? Using a mannequin, real person modelling, hanger on back of door? Make sure the lighting is good and you can see the colour and condition well from your photos. Perhaps you need more photos. You can have 12 free images in the clothing categories. Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -

I feel for you, cos I have two self employed carpenters here (one working, one not), and I know how difficult it is when your never sure if they will have a wage from one week to the next. I too decided to take on more work, so in addition to my 10 -12 hours I have got myself another 15 hours a week, though I'm not sure how its all going to fit in as I have my grandson at least two days to let his mummy work, and like you I am ebaying like crazy just now. You were saying you only sold 2/10 but don't let it get you down. At the moment I have 35+ items listed and only 1 bid ! Just keep plugging away, and your stuff will go, but watch out with fees as they add up pretty quick. i don't sell much clothing except for a few baby items and they go really well. I found a great tip on this forum, which is to use the schedule listing option so I can list any time I want, but go in and upload anytime BEFORE scheduled listing starts and not have to pay a fee for it. It only saves 6p but every penny counts! And it suits me as I might want to add a few items at 7.00 am, but I definately wouldn't want them to end 7 days later at that time!
Good luck anyway.Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21
