I do this with most of my items - I usually take a judgement call on the value. If its above £12 or so I might queue and get proof of postage. If its not then I print all mine off and I have never had a single item go missing in the post. Its rare for Royal mail to loose an item, apart from in the reason bad weather perhaps.

I run an eBay shop at work and in the 4 years I have been running the account we have only ever lost 2 parcels - one to Italy and one in the UK which did come back to us - a card was put through the recipients door and they never collected it from the post office.

That's really useful, thanks JesaRose and Martafdz it's set my mind at rest. Yorkielass yeah I know that's what I'm worried about, I think I will set a limit over which I will go and queue.

Just a quick pop in. WELL DONE EVERYONE! :T:T

Will give you my final figures at the end of January but happy I have got rid of some carp :D

Have to dash as I have now been working on my tax return for 3 months and still haven't started it and CTC and WTC want my final figures for last year NOW

    Back next week...

I'm still doing my tax return as well, have done all the spreadsheets for Apr, May, June, July and August, was not self employed for Sept, Oct, Nov or Dec, so at least that is 4 months I don't have to do accounts for. Just got to copy out my spreadsheets for Jan, Feb and March as our old computer that I had everything on kept switching itself off and the other day when I tried to copy my tax returns off it said I would need to reinstall some programme, was in a bit of a panic but I found all the spreadsheets on paper copies that I had printed off before we got our new computer so is just a case of copying it over onto a new spreadsheet.

I need to find a new spreadsheet or something as the one I have is not very good, is there such a thing as a Spreadsheet to keep track of Ebay sales, fees, postage, Paypal fees and profit etc.

I will keep an eye out my banks incase its come out there, but shouldnt have, I left the amount in my paypal account for the fees!! hmmm

Sometimes do one time payments before invoice is due and pay them off as I go along but left it a bit late for that this month so just left it in my paypal

I was wondering this...I was going to try and do something but I'm not very good with spreadsheets lol

Has anyone else got something already set up that perhaps they'd be willing to share to us ebay newbies?

As an aside, the item that had 21 watchers (that I couldn't give away at a boot sale) now has 33 and a tenner in bids :T

What kind of details do you want to add in there? I play around with spreadsheets often, I am no expert but I could give it a try. What kind of info do you need there and what kind of info do you want to get from it?

  • Jevvers,

I always get Proof of posting as I have had a fair few items do missing. I'm not sure whether they go missing at my end, or the other end, but I won't take the risk of losing out if I don't have my receipt (to claim). I hate the queueing for the receipts, but it's worth it for peace of mind IMO.

Just checked my ebay and have sold another small items on 'buy it now' :) I have 8x items ending tonight, but no bids. I am *praying* that one of the items sells, as it's a higher priced items with loads of watchers, and I really need the space. Fingers crossed.

When you go to eBay, first thing after logging in is selecting My eBay > Selling. That way you will see only your items for sale. Stop looking around or you will make no profit!! :D

Go around the house looking for more things to put it!!

    :D

Thanks for offering to help :)

Not sure really, I guess you need the obvious stuff, like selling price, actual postage cost, fvf, listing cost etc. Id want to know what my costs are and my profit.

At the moment Im only selling stuff from around the house, old stuff I no longer want or need.

Anyone else got any idea of what should be included?
