I decided to make use of my weekend, dragged out the box we marked 'ebay' when we moved and sat and listed about 50 items, mostly starting at 99p. I started off keen, sank down to bored and dragged on with completely cant-be-bothered to scan and list anything else. I seriously hope at least some of it sells!
Sold some items for my son this weekend too so will be wrapping and posting those.

Woo I finally have some ebay listings this year!
Just 10 items, all small so not much effect on clutter but it's a start and I'm not doing more than 10 in one go otherwise the packaging is a nightmare I find.
One has a bid and another a watcher but it's early days yet!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Hi everyone, been lurking on this thread for a while but this weekend I FINALLY got round to listing a few bits and bobs. Thanks for all the inspiring examples and well done everyone.
Can i have some advice - in the past I have sold fairly big / valuable items so I obviously do recorded delivery or at the very least proof of postage. This time I'm selling clothes so they will be quite small and low cost so I'm considering printing my own postage and just sticking them in the postbox.
I work full time and it's queuing at the post office that really puts me off ebaying. Does anyone else take this risk?
Thanks Jevvers.0 -
Sold 7 items this weekend :j (28 didn't sell though, so try not to get discouraged if yours don't sell as well
).
15.14£ total after all fees and postage. I also had to buy about 7£ worth of packaging material which will last me ages (different sized bags, bubble wrap, etc), so 15.14 after all that is very very good, I thinkHave 19 items listed for next weekend, mostly worthless stuff, so I have no high hopes, but hey, people buy weird things!
I decided to list on thursday for 10 days finishing on sunday evening from now onThis Thursday will be busy as it is, but I will revise and relist everything that didn't sell... I also have lots of DVDs and magazines from a tv show I can't be bothered to store anymore, so will have to list these at some point...

I am going to do that this time. You can also do all that and then find a nice post office where you can just drop your items, instead of sticking them in the postbox in the street. I have done that before, and they just take them from your hands and put them in the back. So at least you know they are already there and they will be going soon.
I am not sure how much time I will have today, so I might be using the postbox anyway!!
Made about £10 profit after postage I think. I will know for sure once I print the labels. Any money + uncluttering is a double bonus, so it has been a great experience! Lol Also, I am bot listing more than 10 in a go either... I think 4 a day will be my limit!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I do this with most of my items - I usually take a judgement call on the value. If its above £12 or so I might queue and get proof of postage. If its not then I print all mine off and I have never had a single item go missing in the post. Its rare for Royal mail to loose an item, apart from in the reason bad weather perhaps.
I run an eBay shop at work and in the 4 years I have been running the account we have only ever lost 2 parcels - one to Italy and one in the UK which did come back to us - a card was put through the recipients door and they never collected it from the post office.
If you are running a business you can register to use Royal Mails SmartStamp which does allow you to print everything off but you can use the log on the system as proof of posting so still no need for post office queues (unless you have tracked parcels: signed for, special delivery etc)Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Just remember if you put it straight in a post box and it doesn't arrive you can't get a refund from Royal Mail.
I agree about post queues, I work at a Uni and the post office nearby is always full of students posting things abroad and takes forever to get the certificates stamped.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Yay - sold 10 items so far for a total of £115. However, after Paypal and Ebay fees it brings the total to £95. That's quite a cut into the profits. However, I guess it's money I wouldn't have if the service wasn't available.
Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!!! Make Me Rich This Year eBay & Gumtree
