Hi everyone, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I need some ebay advice.....I posted an item on the 24th Sept by recorded signed for delivery. I got an email from the buyer on the 4th October to say they had not recieved the item, I tracked the item and it says it was deliverex on the 26th Sept and signed for by the buyer, when I told her this she said she had signed for an envelope but that it was empty and her postman told her it had been damaged by rain. I know that this is going to entail putting a claim through Royal mail but I am just wondering whose responsibility it is to claim, mine or the buyers, what are my responsibilities now as a seller? Thanks all.

You will probably have to refund her, then claim back from Royal Mail - you can usually pick the forms up in the post office, and I always include my proof of postage, and also a print out of the listing page on ebay, so they can see how much you sold the item for.
I would also print off the buyers reply with them saying it was an empty envelope etc etc.
    Hope that helps
  • Excellent- thanks Credit_crunch! I know what Ill be doing tomorrow evening now - scheduling items :)

Thank you that is very helpful. I have refunded her now as I don't want her to be out of pocket and then hopefully I will get my money back!

I hope this isnt a new scam:(

I would let the buyer know that you are claiming and sending the email to RM as evidence - they may well take it up with the postie as usually damaged packaging comes with RM stickers all over it.They will also contact the seller...............if it is a scam then it may well stop them trying it again. Hopefully your buyer is an honest one:)

  • well how are the listings going?
I only managed 27 but the majority are worth at least £10-£15 so fingers crossed I get a few bids
Still have to add pics to 4 or 5, so I will hopefully be able to do that 2moro at work.
I have spent a lot for time today sorting stuff out, so it should make it a bit easier to start scheduling items in plenty of time for fld!
    Well thats the plan.......
  • well done credit_crunch. I got 30 on - some are relists and lower price point though. My new items are all around the £10 mark so fingers crossed.
Tried to change the category of one of my items and ran into problems! Ebay started adding picture pack/gallery - was a nightmare was going to charge me £1.90! Couldnt get rid of all of the extras so I gave up.
4 of the 5 items I added last week to boost my funds sold :) All at £8.99 so worth the 25p listing fee!

Igamogam - sorry to hear that you were in the hospital. Hope you're feeling better now.

Credit Crunch and Sophiasmum - 27 and 30 listings is awesome!! Sending you lots of ebay juju so that you sell most of it ;)

Sophiasmum- I had the same 'additions' issue and ended up just starting from scratch - with two windows open and a cut and paste from the old ad - worked a treat but obviously more time-consuming that just a simple relist.

CC- i need to sort desperately. Perhaps next week...

AFM - I managed only 12 reposts and 1 new one. No bids yet, but i'm hopeful. Was sick all weekend with sick boys too so not much energy to do anything else. Hopefully, we'll all be better soon..

    Happy Monday all!
