  • I can't help noticing that people are counting their total bid amounts towards the challenge without deducting the Ebay & Paypal fees. So surely it isn't a truely accurate number of what you have sold? I would have thought that people would have only been counting the true profit (i.e the final bid amount minus the fees) towards their total for the challenge?

I guess its up to the individual how the want to account for their sales. But personally, I'm with you and am deducting all fees and postage etc before I know what my "profit" is when I declare what I hae earnt from Ebay. Its still nice to post that an item has sold for £95 though!!

I'm finally having a proper clearout/purge before moving house, and rather than freecycling lots of things I've decided to put many of them on EBay. 20 items and counting now although its taking a while to do so, however some of them have already got bids!

Even if they only go for £5 each then its better than nothing, especially as its been sitting around for 2 years. :)

  • Unfortunately I didn't get round to listing anymore on ebay last night although did list 3 books on Greenmetropolis. I'm delighted, however, as one of the items I listed yesterday has already got 4 bids on it and it's still got 6 days before it closes :j

I have been thinking about doing this for a while. I have had a sort out and got a pile of stuff ranging from old pc bits to books etc. I was going to do a car boot but honestly cant motivate myself to get up early enough on a Sunday so its all sat in teh spare room!.

Reading this thread has re-invigorated me into e-bay selling. I will sort my account out asap and do a 'test' sale

Damn and blast it. I have priced something as £4.00 p&p where its actually going to cost me £5.24. Thats after the £13 in ebay/paypal fees on the item.... I weighed and measured everything whilst listing and have no idea why its suddenly not right! Anyway, its wrong and I will have to suck it up.

How do I go about finding out what the right postage will be? ould you suggest packaging a parcel up ready to go and take it to the PO before listing it? I have just been guestimating and loose out everytime. I posted 4 packages to a guy tonight for £11.30 when he'd paid £7.99 postage. I did say that I would throw in an item for free with no P&P costs so it's my own fault, but am still curious as to how not to get stung with excess postage costs as I have undercharged before and lost out. Thanks.

I weigh the item on some kitchen scales (plus the packaging) then look up the cost. If its a heavier item, I would take it to the Post Office to weigh it before listing it.
