lol - fair enough, your £65 and you've got your money's worth
Seriously - Please take with a large pinch of salt her coments on your heart and liver function - even a doctor wouldn't venture they were A1 or otherwise without slapping a stethoscope on a patients chest and sending their blood sample to the lab for liver function tests.
Not saying there's anything wrong with yours that ^ is the just the science bit......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

"Dr Heli Malvik-Ots graduated as a medical doctor in Estonia. Specialising in ear, nose and throat surgery. Recently she took an interest in complementary medicine. While she thoroughly understands the value and importance of orthodox scientific medicine, she stilll feels her medical expertise and education is not complete without an additional knowledge of ancient healings, such as acupuncture and herbalism. Heli has studied Naturopathy, homeopathy, herbal medicine and acupuncture. She is also an experienced clinical hypnotherapist. In order to get to the root of the problems she uses an unique holistic patient-orientated combination of several different diagnostic tools and methods." Quoted from the Ragdale Information.
Anyway, what ever she is it was interesting.
Right its time for me to go and sort out the evening meal and DGD wants a bath with one of my Lush bath bombs. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo
I am also a great believer in alternative therapy and of course what the lady was doing was looking for the pressure points samea s acupuncture and reflexology to get an idea of your health.
Some people can believe it is gobbledegook but a lot don't.
My DH is having acupuncture for his head and has other ailments as well, of course we only mentioned the head pain to her and his depression but she picked up on liver function which is interesting as DH has Gilberts which affects liver function. We forget he has it as you can't have medication for it but when she mentioned it we were like 'Oh yeah'
DS has been having osteopathy and it has really helped his back (his bones are growing quicker then his muscles and tendons so had constant pain) - definitely well worth the money.

That sounds fascinating Mooloo. I was interested to read of your experiences and thanks for going into a bit of detail. I will try and see if I can find out more on the net.
lol, that was a coincidence she told you to get a tens machine. I mentioned that a few weeks ago.
A belated Happy Birthday and glad you and Molly had a good time.0 -
Yes we had a lovely time and most importantly Mooloo had a relaxing and wonderful birthday:T:T:T
I also had some alternative treatments at Ragdale and always deliberately vague about what I put on the medical disclosure form. I take responsibility for my own health and well being and being a retired midwife (on the grounds of ill health) am pretty clued up about evidence based practice. I was also a very intuitive practitioner and used art to balance the science. Some things can not be explained but they do work and when you have exhausted the medical experts or as an adjunct to medicine then alternative is a viable option.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I nearly came back last night as I was so angry but decided to wait until this morning to calm down.
I am shocked at some of the previous comments and do wonder whether the poster had read any of Mooloo's diaries.
My understanding is that Mooloo takes no end of medication that does not always work and if her doctor/consultant can give no more help then the only thing left is alternative therapy and of course Mooloo is aware of her health and wants to get herself sorted.
I know for my DH who is only 30 the thought of taking Gabapentin at the level he is for the rest of his life is very daunting and who knows what other side effects come from this long term that is why he has acupuncture. In fact when we told his consultant the other week he said that no one really knows how it works but if it works then that is great.
I assume Mooloo is possibly thinking along the same lines.

P.S I appreciate that Mooloo takes all comments on board as she has opened her life onto a public forum but I know I needed to post about it.0 -
I read this the other week and thought it was interesting.
There are a lot of medical articles about alternative treatments that can help but doctors are unsure of the science behind it.

I apologise for any offence that I've caused anyone. I read that someone putting their hand on something like a giant mouse could indicate on a computer screen what problems they had with their health. That didn't seem a credible diagnostic method to me. Perhaps there was more to the consultation than appeared in the post. She had this amazing tool that looked like a giant computer mouse, which she got me to place my hand on for a few minutes.
While we were talking about the Spine problems first she then started to look at the computer and tell me that there were other things wrong with me.
Her first port of call was my Heart. She said that I had problems with my heart, all though most of that was from stress. I agreed that I had had the odd "fluttering" and had put it down to my medication/moving suddenly etc. But she said I should mention it to my own GP. But she thought that most of it was the stresss. I did discuss then the stress, in a nut shell over the things that you all have experienced with me. She also picked up on my elbow, my fingers in my left hand. My left knee, of course the spine. She told me my iron levels, lungs and liver were OK.
She diagnoesed my having a weak stomach, and the constipation that I get. She suggested that I was lactose intollerant. That I should change my milk to Soya milk.? Who knows on that one, we will have to see.
But what shocked me was that this machine could tell her all my hotspots. Including my broken toe!!! How incredible was that......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

to be fair Errata, although I do usually agree with you, you post was a bit supercilious.
Mooloo I am glad you had a great birthday, I am often cynical of these "new age" type things, but having recently benefited from reiki treatment, I am changing my opinion. If it help you, and doesn't cause you any damage, that can only be good - and she did point you to your own doctor for checks too. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Errata, I am not offended at all. As mentioned above, I put my world on here, I do not expect everyone to agree with me, or even sympathise with me. We would be a very boring world if we were all the same.
I explained a little better so that you can understand what happened a little better. (and anyone else reading, not just you personally).
I have decided to take on board the things that Heli said, as nothing is dangerous or rediculous really.
Accupuncture didnt really work properly for me. I had it prescribed and initiated with my old GP when I lived in the village. I had plenty of sessions and after a few really it only helped with the tension muscles for a day or so. It hurt and I decided that it was not for me in the long run.
I have often thought about going to a "bone bender" as I called it, but never mentioned it as I dont think I can really afford it.
The tens machine was also mentioned several times, by people on here, and I do think my GP had also suggested it a while back. I had one once but the twins had it for their pregnancy etc and it was not treated very well, and came back in bits and pieces. Not mendable alas.
I will try another one again. ANything is worth a try to get rid of the underlying pains.
I know there is not a cure for my Cervical Spondylosis but if I can ease the sypmtoms then its worth it.
I have been thinking a lot about the little flutters I have been feeling in my chest. It seems sensible to get them checked out- how she knew of them is the mystery. Same as the toe etc.
Right what ever I am feeling happy, relaxed and much more positive after my lovely break. It was the best Birthday Present that I could ever have had.
MattyMoo, Thanks for pointing out "Happy half a century! EEK.":rotfl:
What a thought. That did make me think Wow, am I really that old? How the hell did I get to 50 so fast!!!!?????
Right if the first 50 years have gone so fast then what of the next 50? OK well 25 is more realistic.
Today is the first of the school holidays really, but luckily I have DGD booked into the Nursery for 2 sessions a week. Its going to cost me £28 a week, which is a lot. Originally if the Guardianship had actually materialised, I could have offset it with my Work. Oh well, I will be frugal and pay for that before I pay for anything else. It will give me a good break from DGD and it will give me time to sew. It will give her the opportunity to play with her little friends and possibly meet a few different ones as the normal session kids may not be at the same sessions. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
