I am so happy I have finally managed to get my beloved OH to clear out some of his clothes! Currently he is filling a blue Ikea bag that we are then going to take straight to the charity shop!

Still at it - everyroom except what we laughingly call the 'office' has been turned over, turned out, and vacuumed to within an inch of its life. Still got some kitchen cupboards and drawers to deal with, the craft cupboard, bathroom cupboard which is more like a small room :( and a cupboard that we didnt know existed for the first 6 months we lived in this house - its so well hidden and I forgot the cupboard with the electric meter - got to get a ladder to that one :(:(.

Heck I thought I was doing well until I typed all that :rotfl:

Outside we have 3 wooden sheds, a greenhouse, a workshop and 2 stone outbuildings that need a de clutter too - oh poop. I did make an attermpt at 'my' shed yesterday and found a load of stuff to take to work next week, some for Freegle, some for recycle and other stuff UTTER RUBBISH :rotfl:So feeling quite good about that.

Other than my natural hoarding instincts I think our problem is that we have a house with an abundance of good and ingenious storage - and we have, over the years, just happily filled every available space. I have had some good sales on Ebay this week so that has been an incentive and I just love Freegle - it satisfies my need to pass things on rather than consign to landfill and of course my weekly trips to Oxf*m has meant I have had a couple of M&S vouchers - very useful for school uniforms :T

It just seems like an endless round or sorting, clearing and throwing but at least it is a net flow out of the door rather than in..............:)

discovered this thread this week, and although i go through phases of decluttering, although i throw out / recycle / donate /ebay tons of things, it seems that i still have lots of leftover ... junk! it's very annoying! :p

hubby and I spent a couple of hours cleaning this afternoon, and have a small box of things to go on ebay tomorrow, think this will be a useful thread to keep me motivated :D

I found a few foreign coins when going through my penny-jar, any thoughts on what to do with them?

After great decluttering days on Wed & Thurs, my burst of energy and enthusiasm for it has ground to a halt. Nothing much went in or out on Friday, and on Saturday only slightly more.

    In:
1 hamster cage - DD is having a hamster for her birthday on Thursday this week and we bought its cage today

    Out:
2 parcels to the post office - keys for my parents' house posted to my brother, and birthday present posted to my goddaughter

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

  • Well....I did it! All the cards went to the recycling skip ast the tip yesterday (well, except for all from my son and nieces - couldn't bear to part with those :o )

Trouble is, just found a box with my 21st cards in...do I keep them? There seems to be some others in there too....might be my wedding cards (been separated for 9 years almost but not sure I can part with them :o ) gonna have a shower in a bit and psych myself up to sort it out!

Also decluttered a bagful of old tshirts and belts to the enviroclothes yesterday, which netted me a whopping £1.12 - which I then spent in the pound shop on another book (I'm embarrassed to tell you all how many books I have in this house already, but I just can't seem to stop...)

So, yesterday all in all decluttered bagful of tshirts and belts, huge box of cards and black bag full of carrrier bags to recycling bin in sainsbury's....not a bad day all in all!

I'm trying to get on the wagon after falling off spectacularly!

I've thrown away 2 pairs of dead shoes that were falling apart, a few faux leather handbags that were badly ripped and some paperwork. Next time I go back to my parents i'll be taking a load of stuff with me- it's my big sister and my dads birthday so their gifts are going out as well as a load of clothes that my little sister can keep or donate to the charity shop she volunteers at.

I have ordered some new tights to arrive on Wednesday so the next task is going through all my old ones and finding ones out that are ripped/laddered
  • Today is a good day to declutter. Go around the house today and find everything you don't need or want. Take advantage of the Bank hol tomorrow and get selling at a car boot sale. ooh I've inspired myself off to get started. Go on make youself a few quid you know you want to ;)

My girls put their birthday cards in a basic clip frame - cut out pictures abd messages and arrange them artistically (dont get it from me :rotfl:) They change them every year but maybe you could keep your 21st birthday cards permanently. As far as the wedding cards are concerned then maybe just bunble up with ribbon and put in a box 'just for now' if you cant decide what to do with them :)

I need to do some serious decluttering. Going to set a couple of mini challenges. Namely:

    [STRIKE]
    1. Get rid of (recycle) 10 magazines. I have a lot of work based ones to flick through.[/STRIKE] Done
[STRIKE]2. Collect 10 items to recycle from kitchen. [/STRIKE]:o Crid of about double that!
    [STRIKE]
    3. Get rid of (recycle) 3 items of clothing to account for the 3 new items I bought yesterday.[/STRIKE] Done. I was strict with myself so out went 2 pairs of jeans and a top.

Took 2 bags of stuff to the local charity shop so that felt good.

Going to attack the living room today. It's bad! I'm going to do a mad clean up fest for an hour. Report back just after 1pm!
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
