So, today is the first day without the kiddies (until Thursday afternoon) and today I want to achive the following:
Post Office for 2 ebay parcels, 2 letters and buy more stamps
Clean/tidy/declutter kitchen sides/dinning room/bathroom/living room/hall as a) it needs doing and b) OH's grandparent's come for tea on Tuesdays
Drop off a Vie order locally
Finish sorting washing piles ready for new washer coming tomorrow
Strip our bedding and put on new
Right then, off to get dressed (!) and package up ebay parcels so I can tick off the first job
Quick update on how the day went. Got dressed lol, got the parcels packaged up, went to drop the Vie order off and ended up staying for 2 cuppas and a long natter - it was one of DD2s Pre-School leaders and after the fact I was a teacher before having the kids cropped up in the conversation there's the possibility I could have a part time job with them in Sept as they've had 2 members of staff leave/retire! Got to get my head around that one lol and see where it goes.
Parcels and letters posted, stamps bought, bits and pieces from our new local Poundstretcher & Co-op bought.
Gave the kitchen a thorough clean and binned a few bits of paper from the kitchen side/basket. Tidied up the kids craft stuff, hoovered throughout, cleaned bathroom, tidied living room, took stuff upstairs and also to the playroom that wasn't in the right place.
The only thing I didn't get done was our bedding.
Jobs tomorrow:
Haircut
Take delivery of new washer and get the bloody thing plugged in and working!
Recycle bin emptied today so I can start filling it again on Weds
Clean inside of car
Weeding in the front garden
We'll see what else I can get done once I've finished that lot

been doing really well with clearing stuff out got several bags of just rubbish waiting to go out - bin full at the moment. Only problem is bin men decided to come at 6.54 this morning rather than 11 am? so now i have missed them. Got car back hopefully so can get to tip but very annoyingMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I had been doing really well and then I had a few days off
. Going to get back into it today so that I can move in my home! I have some things that are going to be collected by freecyclers today and a few bots that are going to the local charity shop in the next few days. Oh and quite a few large boxes are going to the tip too.
TBH I really need to be in the right frame of mind to declutter or I become too sentimental and keep far to many things. The house will be clearer when I go back to work too

Today I've plumbed in the new washer and got my 2nd load on (a cycle on the new one takes a lot longer than my old washer but hey ho, at least we'll have clean clothes lol)
Had my hair cut
Painted the radiator in the spare room
Sorted out my wardrobe - one pair of jeans out to sell and the rest of the things that were on the top shelf are being saved (neatly now!) until xmas, if I haven't lost half a stone by then and can fit in to them then they'll be sold/charity shopped
Found an empty Book People box under the bed which has gone for recycling
Found a huge bag of coat hangers in the wardrobe which I need to sort into keeping and recycling (think some supermarkets take back hangers?? or possibly charity shops)
Got to do some tea and go out for another Vie meeting tonight for 7.30pm so I haven't got a lot more time left for decluttering, but for now I'm going to put my feet up with a cuppa and head over to the competitions thread and see what I can win loExtra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

My daughter is going away to university soon and will only be renting there during term time so her "stuff" needs to be thinned out considerably since she will have to cart it all back and forth.
Meanwhile at home, while she is away our six year old will be using her bedroom to sleep in so that we can finally have our bedroom to ourselves.
She wants to declutter, but when asking herself "Do I need this" the answer is always yes!
She has piles of books all over the shop because her book shelf is covered in ornaments and cuddly toys, most of which were gifts. She is so grown up in some ways and yet so little girl like in others.
She has too many clothes for the clothes storage space she has available, but she says a) she needs them and b) it's wasteful to get rid of clothes she wears just to make the place look tidier.
My husband had a mother who used to throw his things out periodically without permission and so he is adamant that she has to do this for herself.
I agree with him, but I have the rest of the family's needs to accomodate as well.
Her bedroom is 9' by 6'6", (Narrower where the chimney breast juts out.) into which is crammed a bed, desk, wardrobe and chest of drawers. There's no real floor space. You have to walk sideways like a crab to get round. She has fitted shelves at the top half of one of the alcoves and her wardrobe in the other. She has hooks for hanging bags and a wall hung large mirror which is actually a jewellery box and which also houses hair accessories.
Any suggestions welcome.0 -
:grouphug:Bless! Here's a feme-toon while you clear away her stuff together :grouphug:Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Clear out her room entirely and hand it over to the 6yo. Anything she doesn't want, stick on Ebay or in the loft.
When she comes home, she can share the floor or sofa - how often is she going to be home? Not often I wager and its pretty poor show if she cannot manage a few weeks on the sofa. If she is off to Uni, treat it that she is an adult who is now moving out.
If your place is that small, then needs must.0 -

Harsh words. Do you really hate your kids? They're a life-time committment not just for 18 years.
Maybe a small pet would suit you better, they have a limited shelf-life after all.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

No. I love all 5 of mine. And I have the space for them.
But it appears they have a 2-bed house. If the eldest at 18 is leaving to go to Uni and isn't there most of the time then you have to do what fits with they whole family. If would be different if the 6yo didn't need the room, wouldn't it.0
