Welcome feefeelalabelle - well done on the decluttering!

Woohoo sold a book on Green Metropolis today - first in ages so can add that to ebay sale and silver bits, added another item so 17 in total now, and go to the post office tomorrow.

  • Not sure whether I'm winning on the decluttering, as we have acquired 3 more books & some jewellery as gifts.

A friend fixed 2 Zips for me this week, so that's gone from the 'to do something with' list.

Almost caught up with the washing up but kitchen still a mess! (although decluttered some grime off the top of the cooker)

Did manage to throw some old letters away & old Smash Hits diary as well as a couple of primary school projects - things I half sorted quite recently but didn't make it to the bin.

Some lonely socks have been reunited with their partners in the last few days too :D

One bath thingy added to CS bag - a blow up pillow.

thank you everybody for this thread, it's a good motivator :)

I have that problem too - really annoys me! I currently have a pile of lonely socks pining for their partners, although I'm reluctant to chuck them incase they turn up. I have used a couple as dusters though. :)

I had a not so good start in the morning, after dropping dd off at school, I just could not get going. DH wasn't helping either by saying we could just do it tomorrow. Just needed to have a quick read on here to be put to shame. :o

I eventually got my finger out and managed to get right through my massive bag of paper for shredding, also found more to add to it. I've got a wee pile left to shred, a box of paper to go through and a couple of box files - which I think are pretty empty as all the paper that should have been in them was in a carrier bag! So, once I've done all that then I can transfer what i'm keeping to the (currently empty) filing cabinet. :T Blue paper bin got emptied today and is now full again, can't wait a fortnight so will need to take rest of paper to the recycling centre.

I wanted to read Kath Kelly's book about living on £1 a day but it's out of print - I ordered it from the local library.

    :):T:)
:) I read that from my library. It's very good. She paid for her lodging room up front so it wasn't quite living on £1 a day but nevertheless very amusing and informative. She's a Bristolian, if memory serves, so some of the tips are more relevent to people in that part of the forest. There's also "The Moneyless Man; a year of freeconomic living" by Mark Boyle. It's very good and he's another Bristolian. Wonder if they ever met?!

  • One book I wanted to give away went a different route than the CS.
I wanted to read Kath Kelly's book about living on £1 a day but it's out of print - I ordered it from the local library.

I asked the library whilst collecting the ordered book if they would be interested in Dave Spikey's newly-published autobiography, which I got through Amazon's Vine Voice scheme. It's a smashing book, mint condition, but I don't want to keep it, and as it cost me nothing, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it (I know....) It's only just out - so the CS wasn't the best place to send it.

Because the book was an 'as sold in shops' edition and not a proof copy, as often happens with Vine Voice books, they gladly accepted it.
I'm really happy that I may have found a way of giving to my community that won't cost me anything. :):T:)

How lovely! A friend tried to give about 500 children's books in excellent condition to her local school & library and they refused!
  • Well this morning I have decided to do the "Birthday Blitz" - It may well be my birthday but already coming into the house are -

4 lovely B'day cards (once thats tooo nice to throw/recycle - may need a frame)
    1 lovely necklace -now wearing
1 cute button badge - now wearing
1 handmade "Ice cream" - now hanging onto a bright pink handbag.
1 book - keep dipping into it.

Sorry to any of those already on the "crazy clothes challenge!" about repeating myself about new pressies - but I think I need to make sure I keep a grip on myself on this challenge too!

Sooooo I need to get my act together, tidy the house, sort the mail and get rid of some stuff!

Whoohoo! "birthday blitz" is up and running - no idea how far I will get - very little probably:o

Happy birthday! Whats the crazy clothes challenge?

Had a wisdom tooth forcefully de-cluttered by the dentist this morning and as one side of my face is now swollen I've decided to hide away and spend the day de-cluttering.. First job is the kitchen, then tidy up living room as it's a total mess, if that doesn't take all day I'll probably photograph a few more things for ebay as I'v got quite a few bits of clutter in the bedroom waiting to be ebayed.
  • This thread is so inspiring. Thanks everyone.

I now can't leave the house without taking something that needs to be thrown or taken to the CS.

    Today - a compass and a game.

It's wonderful too that I've come to appreciate more the things I do have and want to keep mainly because I can see them and they're accessible. I also feel I have more time to do things - which is an unexpected by product. I'm reading more, managed to get to the pictures and theatre more etc. etc.

Some of you have already mentioned that you have had similar experiences. Do you have an unexpected by product of all this decluttering? I'd love to hear about them.
