What I'm going to do in 2011
Continue to cook from scratch and say no to ready meals and take awaya
Continue to take in lunches for work
Work really hard to pay off 1 CC and then attack the rest as I can
Continue to make chutneys and seasonally preserve as have enjoyed this so much over the last 2 yrs and have been so well received as gifts for christmas
Start to buy presents for Christmas in the summer sales as I saved a load of money this year doing this
Try and be more successful at growing salad and veg
Finally decorate 1 room as cheaply and stylishly as I can then think about tackling the rest!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

To learn how to take and put pictures on E-bay, I'm a hopeless technophobe.
My DD has promised to help me, as she is the world's greatest procrastinator it may take a while! Patience....patience....0 -
Really need to get back on track with the MSE way of life...:A let myself and the family slide into some dirty habits/ways this year...
I'll have to follow the mantras:
*Do I need it, or is it a want?
*If I need it, can i find/get it cheaper another way?
*To re-read all the old MSE moneysaving books and suggested books, and learn to impliment a permanent change from them....

Last years again
Not pay a penny more to anyone or for anything than I have to which includes
No late payment fees
No interest including example insurance paying up front or 3 interest free months etc, paying off CCs before they incur interest etc
No paying a fee for the sake of it - paying by card fees, payment at PO fees, late library book fees
Shop around for the best prices on everything possible. Cash in on cashback
If I can send it online it saves needing a stamp etc
To add to it
Cook from scratch instead of paying a fortune for ready made food
Meal planning and budget better
Anyway I think you get it ?!xOne day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
1. Read magazines online instead of buying (this will be tough as I have a real weakness for the glossies!)
2. Stop buying things as a way of cheering myself up and only buy things I actually need.
3. Have at least 3 NSD's a week
4. Always take a healthy packed lunch to work instead of popping over to the supermarket every day for an overpriced salad!
We sold our house and moved into rented accomodation in 2010 (our mortgage was crippling us and renting worked out cheaper) so we would like to start seriously saving for a deposit in case we can ever afford to buy again! Hopefully the above things will help us on our way............0 -
I'm going to steal a few other people's ideas :j, as well as recycle all my resolutions from last year (de-clutter, tidy up) but I want to help others less fortunate than myself this coming year (I still have my job and the S&G Pink bag :T).
1) I want to do more for charity - more charity shops and less rubbish made in China (and that includes the dreaded Primark and Poundland.) This is also more GREEN / sustainable.
2) Give my time to charity when I have run out of money.
3) Set up a regular donation to a new charity with the money saved from not buying all that made in China rubbish! £3 a month is one COFFEE out per month - kind of puts that into perspective!
4) I can't have a dog as I taken in rescue kittens (ahh) but need to get out more so I'm going to buy wild bird food and use that to get out walking and feed the ducks and robins etc!
Good luck to you all with yours!Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Morning all
Great thread!
My OS/moneysaving resolutions are:
* Back to meal plans and shopping lists, cut down on food waste and cut down on the amount of meat we eat.
* Have a major declutter and list outgrown kids clothes on ebay, then use the money to buy baby stuff we need.
* Start using the market again for fruit & veg and the butchers.
* Start potty training DS, dont fancy having 2 in nappies come March!
* Stop using my card for every little thing, take cash out at the beginning of the week for milk/bread/f&v etc, toddler group, school fruit money, window cleaner, bus fares etc and when its gone, its gone.
Good luck everyone!
