Great '2011 MoneySaving resolutions' Hunt
With 2011 round the corner, there's no better time to have a money makeover (as well as a health detox!). So we'd like to hear from all MoneySavers about what your New Year MoneySaving resolutions will be.

I resolve to get the whole of the house decluttered this year, and not buy stuff from charity shops unless I need it.
I resolve to watch my finances more closely and budget carefully for food etc, and use whatever MS tips I can to do that.0 -
Buy fewer magazines. I worked out the other day that I spend £155 on magazines a year. So I'm going to start only buying them for train journeys (twice a month until the end of March, and then more infrequently as I won't be going back and forth to London all the time) and then cancel my Glamour subscription, because they've become more of a habit than a treat.
I'm also going to sell off books and DVDs I don't want after I've read/watched them, and to make use of the various classic books my parents have whilst I'm still living at home. And to not buy any shower gel until I've used up what I've got."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I am going keep sticking to my Grocery Budget.
I am going to keep posting a weekly food menu and stick to it (a bit better then 2010).
I am going to keep sticking to my Petrol Budget.
I am still only going to buy what I NEED and not what I WANT.
I am still going to watch the pennies save up into ££££!
I am still just going to live in my means... and live a simple and happy lifeWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

I am going to get this place decluttered.
We have lived here for 9 nears and our bedroom is the only room in the house which has never been redecorated. This will change.
Last year I managed to get my personal overdraft back into the black and this will be built on in 2011.
I will spend less time being grumpy as it is not good for me or the other Glums."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

you can read most magazines online, i'd buy a book for the train (or sign up for the free radox ones) i never by magazines anymore and i read mil paper
my resolution is to spend less on things we don't need (this past week has shown how much we waste as were now £800 worse off than we were on xmas day and our bank looks very sad)
DEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
I am going to decorate our bedroom, mealplan, batch cook, use up leftovers, and get my monthly grocery spend down lower than it has been. I will dust off the breadmaker and buy loopaper, cheese, showergel etc when it's on offer. I might even try to persuade DS to give me some keep money.
Thanks everyone for all the tips.

I've always liked the saying "Look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves" and that is going to be my resolution for the year.

Weight loss challenge. At target weight.0 -
I have so many this year. I really don't want to be waiting for Decembers pay day to be able to buy the xmas pressies.
my aims are to use cash only. food budget, meal plan, sell unwanted goods, make all of my own pressies - have started already lol.£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0 -
I am going to have a big declutter - stuff, magazines, clothes - everything! I have already sorted my CDs and DVDs as I had loads that I hadn't even thought of for a year.
I am reducing my magazine buying. No more weekly celebrity magazines, no more random monthly magazines just because I want a boost. As they are almost £4 each it isn't worth it. I will still allow Country Living, Victoria, The Lady and perhaps something foody.
I aim to stop emotional buying and emotional eating. Neither makes me feel any better in the long run.
I am going to try to learn some home related skills - knitting, sewing, baking, cooking, quilting and gardening. I would love to be able to make clothes!
I am going to get healthy. I am young but I don't look after my body or appreciate it as I should. So more healthy food, exercise, water and fresh air.
I aim to keep blogging at least 2 posts a week as I really enjoy getting my thoughts out of my head!0
