Hi all not managed to keep up with all the recent posts hope everyone is ok. I havent been on here much but have stayed motivated by the posts u all write, thankyou.
I have stuck to my challenge so far, just made a list of meals for next week out of freezer contents, need to go get some other bits, was going to sains but I know I will be lured by the offers (not strong enough yet not to LOL) but looked at my list I can get everything in lidl if they have it all,,so am off there instead. I have been looking for a reasonable local greengrocer, our local one is hit and miss usually more miss, the stuff goes off quickly so I guess that means I would have to visit more frequently which I am not able to do easily, supermarket much more easy to get to on way home from work but like everyone I pop in for fruit and veg and milk then buy other stuff I wasnt intending on LOL I have really stopped doing this, I actually had to stop myself on fri turning in for a loaf of bread! Sent ds1 round bakers when he got in from schl instead.
I have seen a farm in west wales that delivers a family box to my area so may try that next week. It looks fairly substantial. Am sick of buying tasteless fruit and veg from s/market but i really want to keep costs down.
Will try grow my own again this year, still have a freezer full of fruit and chillies !
have a fab weekend to all :-)Life happens when you are busy making other plans

I cook my sausages in the oven but I drain most of the fat off before I add the batter; I'd add the batter about 15/20 mins before they're cooked, I suppose its basically how long would it take to cook a big yorkshire... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Spent €109 today in supermarket, but that included a leg of lamb, 3 other packs of meat (mince, pork chops and chicken goujons) that will each do 2 dinners, a chicken and ham pie half price, and a few other offers. And I had DH with me, who wanted a few different things for lunches (getting bored of sambos again, so wants things like soup or noodles for a while).
Menu for the week:
Sat: Roast lamb
Sun: Lamb leftovers (either with mash and gravy or as a curry)
Mon: Chilli (DH making it tomorrow)
Tues: Spag Bol (freezer)
Wed: Feta chicken (have part boned chick in freezer)
Thurs: Ikea meatballs and HM wedges
Fri: DH out so whatever I feel like doing for myself, possibly something like an omlette
We'll need a sliced pan tomorrow for sambos, but we ate almost a whole large old-fashioned loaf at lunchtime today which was tasty!! It was still warm - luckily we had gotten it sliced in SM so it will do another meal, but we really love fresh crusty bread so that was a REAL treat!GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897
