I need to nip to aldi sometime over the next few days as our veg is running short:

Aldi super six for this week:

    http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/4862.htm

It all looks good to me as long i stick to the super six when i go. I do wish Aldi take visa as i use this for all my shopping (to get tesco clubcard points) and i pay it all off every month...i always forget my switch card number when i go to pay as i don't use it often enough!

Today i took my DD2 to see Shrek 3 at the cheapy kids cinema (odeon do it too..here are the links if anyone is interested:
    http://www.myvue.com/kids-films/?
    http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/kids/
It cost me £2 for both of us and the film was great. When we were queing the lady in front of me bought 2 tickets, 2 drinks, a pack of sweets and a big pot of popcorn and it came to £18.50:eek::eek: (we sneaked in a box of maltesa's that we were given for xmas and a couple of bottles of tap water).

We had a roast chicken for dinner with roast pots, cabbage (woopsied from xmas), brussells (that dad gave me last week), peas, parsnips and leeks(from the allotment) and roast carrots...it was more lovely because my DH cooked it while we were at the cinema.

Not sure what we will have for tea but it will only be something small after such a big dinner.

I was a bit dissapointed today as i have lost various things at my allotment due to heavy snow/low temperatures for so long...all my celeriac's, savoy cabbages, broad beans and purple sprouting broccolii is rotten. I do still have parsnips, curley kale and jeruselum artichokes and leeks left but some of my apples in my shed are also going rotten....this will affect my shopping budget...it's very frustrating....but never mind it's a set back i will need to get over. :(:(

Updated my total since my last post.

£6.31 spent on Friday - 3 x body spray, a bottle of water (I only wanted it for the bottle), some chocolate mousses, fresh sage and a packet of vegetables.
£3.20 spent today - kitchen roll (8 pack for £2 - bargain!) a bag of salad (reduced to 20p) and a pot of creme fraiche to go with my dinner tonight.

My total is a bit higher than I had hoped for this point in the month, but I have spent more than usual on toiletries and don't think I need a great deal of food for the next few weeks.

    Free starbucks coffee tomorrow:

Enjoy a smooth start to 2011 with a free fresh filter coffee at Starbucks.

On Monday 10th January you can enjoy free fresh filter coffee from participating Starbucks in the UK or Ireland. It’s the perfect start to the morning ... or afternoon... or evening.

All you have to do is:
    1. Print or download the voucher to your phone: http://wish.starbuckscard.co.uk/filtercoffee/voucher.html
    2. Go to your local Starbucks, anytime, on Monday 10th January
    3. Show your voucher and ask for your free fresh filter coffee
    4. Add sugar, whole milk or skimmed – however you like it best
    5. Sit back (or take it to go) and enjoy the taste of fresh filter coffee!

We’re really looking forward to seeing you, and we’d love to hear what you think – click ‘Accept’ and we’ll stay in touch.

That will be VERY nice tomorrow! Thank you - printed off.

Spent £12 for lunch out at the pub today - was very nice. The pub I go to is very good quality (they do cheap cuts like Pork belly or Beef Brisket but they taste ooooh so good!), so I don't resent a penny spent. Feeling a bit ill today so no beers with the meal, just a diet coke :p
    Updated siggy - again...

Well, sweet and sour was lush. What makes it even more lush, is that I've got so much left over! By the time I'd added some tinned pineapple, frozen peas and some onion to the tin of sauce and chicken, it's made enough food for three meals for the three of us!! I'm consciously eating less, and so I used a smaller plate and ate slower. Guess what? - I'm full up! Don't really think I want any pudding right now. My children are fighting over some juicy red grapes and then having a couple of their chocolate coins (gotta love xmas for stocking you up!!). I'll have a little something later if I get hungry, so then I'm not eating too much. In theory!!
Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100
Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending
  • Had to go to Mr T's, as had no milk. Made the mistake of taking OH with me. Whilst he is supportive of GC - I don't think he realised that he cannot just chuck stuff in the trolley, and come in under budget.
We needed frozen sweetcorn, he wanted finest, i wanted the cheapest. Same story with the apple sauce, I mean IT'S ALL APPLES, AND SWEETCORN AFTER ALL!!!
I think I got off lightly with just spending £18!!!! Made 2 x tubs of ice cream, one toffee cri@p, the other mint chock chip, and meringues with the left over egg whites.
Quick questions, what do people do with their spare egg whites? I have some in the freezer, and am looking for ideas. Also, my meringues always 'leak' sugar solution, making them sticky. What am I doing wrong? Thanks if anyone has any ideas.
Not intending to buy any meal items this week, need potatoes on Wednesday, and I like the big £3.50 bag from MrM, good value.

Lovely sunny, crisp day today.Homade veg soup for lunch then agood country walk with DD,SILand 2GDs.Pasta with pesto tomatoes and grated cheese ,ice cream and aglass of leftover xmas sherry for tea. Just going to sort freezer and list meals for week before going to shop at Mr Ald tomorrow.Every penny I can save will be paid off my credit card debt of £1281.00. Long to be debt free ASAP.
  • I know what you mean Minnie...I have one like that at home. Why am I saving that, why don't I wash everything on 40 degrees for 3 hours, putting dishwasher on twice a day half full and sticks things in the dryer when it's a fair windy day. He pays the leccy bill so he'll do what he likes. I've had to get canny and do the washing in the evening then stick it out first thing on the line. Goes mad if I try and stop draughts, says we need ventilation:eek:...what can you do...I say he's turned into an old woman:rotfl:
