Just updated my signature as I realised this morning that Tesco online had charged me 10.51 for Surf Small & Mighty which should have been on special offer for £5.00 - a quick phone call and I have been refunded - I will definately be checking my receipts in future !!! if anyone has purchased this, worth checking your receipt.

Im awful at checking receipts for anything, despite the number of stories I have heard like this where people have been overcharged...must do better!!

  • Went to Mr.M's this morning and spent a little more than on my list but got some "use today" streaky bacon and meatballs very cheap, will whiz that in the freezer. Overall spent £32.97 on food, which included some spices for baking tea loaf and Parkin. Also got half a dozen larg eggs on the little market in Morecambe for 80p.
Been through all my cupboards this morning listing what I have in store and only had to throw 1 item away which was well past its use by date. Will go and delve into freezer afterwards.

Just a quick question do you get DTD on online over charges like you would in the shop?
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

I didn't go mad... only 3 overflowing baskets of stuff most of which is for the cupboard like oxo cubes, gravy granules and some bottles of juice. Got the things i need to get today anyway like bread, milk and eggs and it was cheap then 50% off... will really need to start doing my weekly shop there when it reopens. I spent a grand total of £37.87 and got 8 bags of shopping that would normally have cost me £75.74 so January's budget may be broken this month as i wouldn't normally buy 11 packs of oxo cubes in one go but i definately won't need to buy any for the next year now.... and i made sure i checked the dates on everything i bought 2!

    Need to update my signature

    Buddiebabe x

Gosh, that was terrific, buddiebabe!:T I love a good bargain story!

Thanks Mothership for the bhuna recipe - I'm going to put that on my meal plan for next week. I've all the ingredients in my cupboard/freezer.
I'm loving all the new recipes being posted. I think we're all looking for something new to tickle our tastebuds after all the Festive fare! Saw a great recipe for chinese style chilli beef on Something for the Weekend this morning, which I fancy doing on Saturday instead of a takeaway.
Had a small shop this morning at Mr T, but stuck to my list and am well and truly stocked up!

    Menu plan for this week

Today : HM Chicken Casserole, giant yorkies and veg HM apple crumble & custard
    Monday : Corned beef hash
Tuesday: Chicken marinated in ginger, lemon, garlic and chilli with tagliatelle
Wednesday: Eggs/ omelettes ( always quick and easy on a Wed!)
Thursday : Grilled salmon with noodles and stirfry mangetout& baby corn
Friday: Chilli con carne & rice
Saturday: Chinese style deep fried chilli beef
    Sunday: Beef stew, veg, tatties

As you can see, I'm reasonably organised for this week!( for a change)
Thanks Mrs M for updating my total - sorry to muck you about, but I hadnt anticipated going to Co$tc0 this month!:o
I am under my revised target with one more shop to go. My month ends on the 20th, so I will be endeavouring to keep the damage to a minimum;)

I did not know you could keep cheese in the freezer! How long does it keep for?

One of the best tips I ever had was to buy Parmesan cheese in block form (particularly if on special offer). Freeze it and then grate it when required. It's so easy to grate, always tastes fresh not stale (not like the grated stuff sold in cardboard boxes) and is so economical used this way as you only grate what you need for that particular meal. If you like this on your speg bol etc it is a 'must' for your freeezer - in my opinion.
