HI MIT - all the best for 2012 - I hope you manage to achieve all your goals and its a good one for you. x

I found your spending diary very interesting. That is dedication and has really paid off to show you exactly what was spent where!

I am hoping to knock a third off my loan (my last remaining debt but a big one). I am hoping overall to knock it down from 5 years to 3! I am also doing the sealed pot challenge to have as a christmas treat but also want to try and put something in a savings account in case of emergencies.
  • Hi LAM. Sounds like a good wee plan you have there. I am so glad I completed the diary and will definitely do it again this year as it kept me wel on track. Seeing the end figures has shocked me a wee bit so I iwll try and tighten things up this year
My dd is 18 this year and reckons she will want a lap top. Even if she changes her mind it will be an expensive one for me so I may increase my Christmas savings fund to £150 per month so I can pay for whatever it is in cash :D. DS is going to France with the school in June. This is half paid already but I need to sort out clothes and his passport as well as pay the other half so it is really important I stay on track money wise. A good positive things for the kids but I NEED to ensure that none of it stresses me out as far as money is concerned.

So have a lovely day everyone and no doubt I'll be hanging around on and off all day like a bad smell xx

  • Yeah its one of those days. I am going to have a quiet one too feel a bit under the weather, cant possibly be the wine!
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Nope couldn't be the wine as wine is made from fruit and that's good for you :D. I have 2 bottles of home brew here that DS's Granny made and I'm scared to open it as I reckon it will blow my head off :rotfl:

happy new year MITloved the post earlier about "its upto you" to change your life (27/12), definately believe the person to change ones life is you, its not easy but no one else will do it for you. I need to change as well ,i am in a male household, hubby sons and even the pets, i am always running around doing chores for everybody, even tho i work two jobs. Now everybody can chip in more and take more responsibilty for stuff, but i will find it hard to let go.

I opened a sealed tin yesterday i started in july and found out i had saved £94 in loose change, which is going off one of my debts. Was hoping to have paid off my M&S card by now but will have about £100 left on it this month, but not going to get upset as by easter i know this will be paid off.

Think i may start doing my shop over the internet, i work for mrT. but when i go shopping i always buy more than i need, so think i will try this way for three monthes and see if i save money.

Finally need to lose about a stone in weight which may not sound much to those who have more to lose, but its still hard to shift. Hopefully by summer i will ahve lost abit of weight and been more frugal with my money, may keep a money diary.

Good luck for the new year.xx
:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.00
  • Hi Amber. It is difficult to change and let go but I have already warned my kids that I am going to be delegating more as I am sick of every day off being spent doing housework- i.e picking up after them. I just need to make sure I follow through with it as I wil have no-one to blame other than mysef if I dont. Good luck with the boys ;).

Went to mums today and spent £20 on take away but we had a nice wee day. Dropped into my friends on way home and ended up sinking 2 bottles wine Hic !:D
