Soulie beautiful bracelet welldone.
Deborah why not try a sock kitten which has less sewing than an sock monkey and is really easy to do. There is a tutorial on my homepage if you fancy giving one a go. In fact everything i make is for novices as i have taught myself to sew and just fumble my way through most projects so you should be able to do anything on my homepage. if you need any questions answered just give me a shout and i'll try and help.whilst i'm on i might aswell share a hoto of susie my latest monkey made last night!!

Soulie; that is one beautiful bracelet your auntie will love it :j Sorry can't help with the pricing thing...it's a bit of a nightmare trying to figure that out!
DeborahDoodle; We all have to start somewhere. A lot of people have made very successful hand sewn monkeys, it just takes longer to do. Start small and work up (or just throw yourself into it like I do :rotfl:)
dizzytina; What a cutey in pink. The dress is gorgeous with the butterfly. Did you stamp it out in felt? (asking cos it's so neat!)0 -
Souli - loving the bracelet also :T
I have made loads of things already for female presents, but I'm struggling as usual for male presents.
Have done scarves and beanies for my nephews, and a Neckwarmer for my FIL, but stuck for brother and 2 BILs.
None of them wear scarves or hats.
I already make them chutney, jam, marmalade and lemon curd regularly, so they wouldn't see that as a presents.
Any suggestions anyone?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Pennib the butterfly is foam and I bought a pack of them - yes far too neat for me to have cut out :-)
Cuddles I always struggle with male gifts too so can't think of much other than maybe sloe gin or flavoured vodka if they drink? XxV 12500 B 8300 N 1900 Oct £51/£1550 -
Cuddles, do they have an iPhone, iPad or Kindle? You could make a cover for those if so.0

Soulie That's gorgeous! If I wanted one like that I would pay £15 for it. HTH
Thank you, and yes it does help as that was the ballpark figure I had in mind
It cost £4.45 to make, it would have cost less had I been patient and ordered the beads from China but nooooooo I couldn't wait and got them in England instead {while I waited on my order from China} lolDeborahDoodle wrote: »Hi everyone
I love this thread so much!!! I am a very new "homemade" maker but would love to include some homemade gifts in my gifts for christmas this year, Im just not sure where to start. i have started a sock monkey but not entirely sure it will work out as sewing it by hand!!! Just wondered if anyone had any ideas to get me started and kick off my makes...feel bit overwhelmed by all your great items and think im worried that whatever i start will be a failure!!
I wouldn't worry so much, I sew my monkeys by hand too, and I think it adds more personality to them! Granted, my first monkey turned out understuffed with wonky features, but I love Mr. Wonky Monkey even more, and I learnt a lot from him13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

I am so excited to find the sock cat tutorial you've written. Most people I know love cats and with Peacocks having a big sale on funky socks, it seems daft not to at least try. I have no clue how to use a machine so will be doing this by hand so prepare to laugh at my efforts! I'll have to pop into town to buy stuffing tomorrow
(I couldn't quote the post as it says I am a newbie and wont let me)0
