also hope Emsmer gets well soon and happy birthday to your little girl.My girl is 9 tomorrow.

Wow thanks for those Ddraig, I love the Cath Kidston ones although they are out of stock. I was trying to find out how much my quilts would be worth if I had to go and buy them already made up so I can work out how much I am saving making them. The shop where I learned how to make them, the lady makes them her self and has them on show all over the walls and has prices on them. Some of them have prices like £300 or £400 each!! The shop is in Rochester in Kent where they get a lot of tourists especially from the US so may be they buy them, I dont know.

I got some more fabrics yesterday through the post so can carry on with my sister's oriental one although will be a bit busy today so will have to wait until I get time.

Rufus. Some people see a big price tag and want to pay it ,just so they can say they have paid that much.
    More fool them the numpties,lol.
Although others dont want to pay our prices on handmade and they dont realise we probably dont make more than 3 quid an hour on stuff if we are lucky.

  • This seems like a good thread to join. I'm embarking on a super-thrifty 2011 and love to make things so have decided that for all Birthday and Christmas gifts in 2011 I'm aiming for a 'no £ spend' as there's enough yarn, fabric and cardmaking goodies in the stash to last several lifetimes.

Knitted gifts will be mostly machine knitted to make best use of my time but will work at making time to handknit something for 2 yr old granddaughter and the newbie who's due in May. (I used to give machine knitted knitwear as gifts years ago and recipients would often request a sweater, cardigan, etc., in advance so don't see any problem with doing this again.)

Sewn gifts will include things like place mat sets and small patchwork items if there's enough wadding in the stash.

Other gift ideas are small baskets, lined and then filled with toiletries, stationery sets and a pen in a nice box, a selection of handmade greetings cards in a nice box, etc. Everything to make these is here already so will be 'no spend' items. Have a good selection of toiletries for the baskets in stock so, again, 'no spend' items.

Also have enough cardmaking stash to make our Christmas cards for several years without spending any money!

Some gift wrap would be useful but will work on that - will make and/or swop something to sort this.

I'm feeling quite motivated after 'writing' this so will sign off and go make a start on the list :)

I'm think i'm sorted on ideas for the children - love the crayon rolls so I think those with a nice bag to keep some art bits in will be good

I'm really struggling with the men though - does anyone have any good homemade gift ideas for men??
Silence is golden...unless you have a toddler. In that case silence is very, very suspicious!
