    Hi londondulwich,
Thanks you very much for pointing out the hotel booking rule! I was almost ready to take the offer, but now, I won't bother (I never stay in hotel when I'm travelling)

The airmiles deal from LLoyds TSB is now over, no more free 500 points.

Instead they are offering a voucher for 1500 miles, but whatever flight it is used for must include a hotel booking made via the airmiles website. Just for the minimum one night stay, the hotels are expensive and the voucher expires in March 2009.

Unless the voucher is used to complete a long haul flight, basically the routes the budget airlines do not cover like: New York, Tel Aviv, 5,000 or Rio, Bangkok 8,000 points or Sydney, Buenos Aires 10,000 points. In which case you need to get loads of points, (somewhere between 3000 and 8000) between now and March 2009, it seems like a step down from the original offer.

Any current airmiles collectors able to comment on the liklihood of collecting around 3000 points in 1 year 3 months through things like Tesco shopping and Buying petrol at Shell stations?

Additionally, unless you fly from a London airport then you will need an extra 500 miles to fly from a regional airport.

I've just read the Terms & Conditions of that offer:
Airmiles offer summary (at the bottom: 1500 miles / free flights offer),

And that there are actually some important restrictions:
...1500 miles will show on the customer’s account as a voucher within 30 days of the Eligible purchase and will not form part of the AIRMILES balance.
So no way to book a Eurostar tickets instead of flights.

Customers may book tickets for more than one passenger but the voucher can only be used for a single booking.
So, to me, the 2 FREE return flights to Zone 1 is actually false advertising.

    Any comments?

Can I use these 1500 to buy 2 return zone 1 flights as a present for my parents?

    Thanks

yes i guess so but you could call lloyds for more details, just got my card and hoping to do the £10 purchase tomorrow.

remember you have to book one nights stay in a hotel booked via airmiles. You can buy them one nights there and the rest of the holiday stay in a much cheaper hotel.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"

The deal was not guaranteed to last forever - only while stocks lasted. I think that if you signed up on the most recent offer for the 2GB mp3 player, you should have got a special code from SonyCard that would let you get the player for the amount of points that you received for signing up.

I have to say, I had quite a lot of trouble getting mine - because I didn't get given the points I was supposed to have. However, they did sort it out in the end - and gave me a load of extra points too, which I've just used to get the clock/radio/indirect light thing - so I'm pretty happy with it overall! :)

I got my MP3 player for 7,000 points using the special ordering code but in the Sony Pulsebeats catalogue the same item was 11,000 points. Martin's advice was not to order from the catalogue.
  • Hi guys,
I see a lot of people have had a few problems with redeeming their points! I am on my third card now and have had no problems having obtained the following all free of charge - The most recent offer 2GB MP3 player, 512mb MP3, digital radio, two lots of headphones. I still have 7000 points on mine and the same on my wife's still to spend!
The only advice i can give is to be patient. Sony / MBNA add the points to your account in stages. You get the first lot i.e. 2000 when you start using the card and then when you qualify for the other 5000 after you spend enough. Reading through some of the replys on this thread some people think they will get them immediately, this is not the case. They even sent me a reminder once i had spent enough to claim the 2GB MP3. The offers change quite regularly i see the new one is for the 'splash proof' walkman 512MB MP3.
I get the points cash them in then close my account and re-apply for a new one to get the next offer. My latest card just received an additional 5000 points for no reason so i am off to the pulse book to see what i can get free now. Good Luck
