  • The evidence that the UK has insurmountable problems is there for all to see, if they wish to. It has nothing to do with prediction, & everything to do with painful conclusion.

Only insurmountable to those who are not old enough to have lived through worse.

Trying to turn this messenger into the villain with a nasty remark does not alter the truth; & all because you don't like the message. Some things just do not change.

    Insurmountable. DYOR.

Insurmountable? Why don't you take a small step back - you might just see how ridiculous that statement is.

Mankind has survived all manner of hardship, pestilence and war. Do you honestly think that this financial situation is something on that scale?

I can't think of many other insurmountable issues facing mankind where it's been possible to sit in a pavement cafe with a coffee and pastel de nata and share your thoughts with the world.

Insurmountable? Take a peek around at the real world - it might not be as scary as you think.

If you don't revolt & change the system that has criminally screwed you (& by a factor that seems to be beyond your slightest comprehension), yes. Insurmountable. DYOR

Calling my statements 'ridiculous' will not alter the truth of what will happen. This will become clear to you over the next few years.
Attacking me will not alter this but no doubt you will persist in such a futile activity.

I have no intention of attacking you. I'm all for being cynical and see this as a healthy defence mechanism against the sea of bullsh*t we have to deal with each day. However, to be as pessimistic as you is quite saddening.

What do you think is going to become clear in the next few years and how are you preparing?

Oh no! It looks like we are all doomed (again)

Oh what a terrible position to be in - I just can't imagine how difficult it must be to get to retirement with 5 properties paid for and tenants paying rent every month.

I'm just going on the experience of a friend, who found it almost impossible to liquidate his rental properties to retire.

Not that he couldnt, but it took years of planning and work. And when you are 60+ most people simply cant be bothered with the faf. Ie he couldn't retire until it was mostly sorted.

With other forms of investment, it's easy.

Bit of an old chestnut this one. I am providing the property by investing my deposit in it in just the same way as you would be if you were buying your own. In investing my deposit I am removing the risk from people who are convinced that the market is going to crash and who are not prepared to put their money in the balance (you must admit there are plenty of them around - I know a guy from Edinburgh who admits he could have bought in 2005 and is now kicking (not himself but everyone else who had the courage of their convictions)).
I would like to be behind you when you go to rent a car "But you're not really providing this car, what about the manufacturer, the salesperson, the insurer, the mechanic". "Yes Sir, now **** off, you are not having one of our cars, save up and buy one of your own if you feel so strongly about it". Only joking. :)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Yes pimp. You're right. I did not have the "courage" to buy two flats mere weeks before property prices peaked and the the crash began.

And we all know how well flats have held their value. ;)

You were doing okay up until "insurmountable". I, for one, intend to assist in helping the country surmount them and I think the majority of the good quality people in this country feel the same. As for your painful conclusion you could replace with "my wishful thinking".

Good old pimp will be doing his bit by selling 3 families properties at bargain post crash prices.

Three cheers for the pimp. :T:T:T
