  • Hello everyone!

JackieGlasgow thanks for the birthday wishes for yesterday. :)

I have succombed to the lurgey as has DS. Starts with the cough and then the pounding headache.

DD ad SIL have gone to London on the coach today to visit friends. SIL hopefully a bt better and DD ignoring cough....Hope we don't get a phone call to collect them as OH only one standing. I think we all got it from sharing computers! ( SIL not impressed with British lurgey) Makes sense as OH doesn't bother much with computers at home.

OH gone shopping as we have run out of potatoes and those yummy clementines with leaves on. He is popping into L**l to try and get the lamb shanks on offer as DD wants to eat lamb before returning to Japan in Saturday.

Didn't eat all the turkey and gammon as people poorly/out visiting. Will only be Darby and Joan next year as DS likes to go to girlfriends house for christmas lunch. No chance this year with DS home with new husband. :rotfl:

Lunch is carrot and bean soup to use up the carrots.

Tea will be sausage pasta with tomato sauce.

Hugs to poorlies and kind thoughts to all.

    Afternoon all,

The dreaded coughing lurgy has taken it's grip here and it so hurts my stitches.:eek::eek: Was freezing in bed last night despite having 2 dressing gowns as extra blankets. Came down this morning slept on the sofa and was boiling hot. DH just making me a cuppa then I'm going to walk round the block I need some fresh air. Have tidied a bit this morning nothing too strenuous as the clutter was getting to me a bit. Going to help DS3 with his 1,000 piece jigsaw later.

Take care everyone Bitsy rest when you can.

Morning folks, up early as back to work today. Shouldnt be too busy but its only half staff. Going to have a no spend day and check the menu planner as cant remember whats for tea. Very positive about this moneysaving and all the new challenges that I am going to do next year - just want to get started - how sad is that!!!!!
Need to get a move on as walking to work today - even calculated that averaging the diesel usage of 3 miles a day at 40 miles per gallon costing about £5.50 a gallon (dont do litres!!!) will save about 45p per day - even walking three times per week averaging 40 weeks in the year will save just under £60. Will throw this value into a pot each week.

have a good day and hugs to all those in need

Actually there are 5.25 litres to a gallon so diesel equates to £6.77 a gallon  with both a vat rise of 2.5% and a duty rise in January it will probably work out to £7 a gallon  No wonder prices in the shops are rising so fast

Had a burn up this morning - the bins were absolutely overflowing because we have not had a collection for a month and the tip is shut until tomorrow. It was mainly wrapping paper, cardboard and paper but I can now get stuff in the bins.
We are supposed to have a collection on Thursday for the main bin and recycling - we shall see :(

I stunk like a bonfire until I had a shower feel a lot fresher now:D

Kids are watching DVDs so it is nice and relaxed here at chez BB:D:D

We only buy a small turkey and finished it yesterday with a turkey and gammon flan with a salad. The carcass has been turned into soup which is now in the freezer.

dinner tonight is the left over gammon with eggs and mushrooms.

    ((((((((Hugs)))))) to the poorlies x

Shopping expedition was very successful - half price free range chicken now roasting away in the oven with one of half price limes stuffed up its rear-end. Also got a whole rectangular dish of pate for £0.01 :j it was reduced to £5.00 but the ticket printed off 1 penny which I didn't notice until after the till. That will be portioned off and frozen. Got the remainder of the net of limes cut up and now in the freezer (after doing them on a baking tray).

Gearing up for New Year now. Have decided that, whilst it's so totally necessary for me to get back on the low carb regime, it will be pointless before Hogmanay/New Year. So many carbs in alcohol :o that it would be a waste of time. NOT that I/we intend to be boozed up but as New Year is our main celebration it would be shame to stint ourselves then. We have our parties to come.

Whatever happened to Scotch and Wry? Will dig out the DVD and get it ready for Friday.

    Happy Gers here. :)

Hope you are all well, I seem to have developed a cough and feeling a bit rough. Still, feel lucky that I have gone this long without picking up anything.

Not much happening here, not been out since christmas day so at least I haven't spent any money! OS wise using up all the food in the fridge, still loads in the freezer. Have boiled a ham hough and soaking pulses ready for making broth tomorrow. A friend came yesterday with a trailer full of logs which will keep us going for ages so very grateful to him.

Forgot to ask, those of you who made the cancan scarves, where is the best place to buy the yarn?

Hope the poorlies are feeling better, take care all. XX

    Hi all,

All the visitors have gone, so peace reigns again....I shouldn't really feel like that but I love to see them and its great when they leave....have got out of habit of catering for the multitudes and it now takes an effort.

Had a lovely surprise phonecall from an old friend the other day, we talked for hours about our life in college in the early 60s....made me feel young again!

Had roast lamb for dinner last night, think that there is enough leftovers including veg to do OH and me to-night, so a very lazy day without apologies to anyone! Turkey remains are in freezer (Labelled!!) and stock is ready to be frozen....think that I might reduce it as much as possible as freezer space is not very plentiful.

First wash for days on at present, four beds to be changed asap, there isn't a bed in the house ready for visitors and someone always seems to arrive unexpectedly when that is the case!

Without injury to him or passenger dear brother managed to banjax the axle of his jeep in a skid on Sunday, DS3 went to Bantry (200 miles away)to bring him his car and take home the jeep so that was a long day for him....nobody injured is important bit about that story.

So sorry to hear that so many people have not been feeling well...taking lots of vit C and fruit here to ward off any germs, not sure it works but seems to have done so far.

Not been to a shop since 24th, nor do I intend to visit one until the weekend at least, have a couple of vouchers to spend and could do with a new pair of trousers, but they will still have them next week, Im sure. We seem to have enough food for an army, so don't need anything in that line either.

Hugs and seasons greetings to all of those who have been MIA for a while, come back soon, we need you!

    Afternoon all

It's been a depressing day weather wise here :( it's barely got light, been raining and quite foggy.

I had nice lunch at parents, but my brother was a bit sulky. He was hungover. My mum always complains that when he comes to stay she only ever sees him drunk when he comes home from a night out or hungover next day .

I'm going to cwtch in and read a book for a few hours I think.

ps Gintot - belated birthday wishes!!
