Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 28th Dec. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone.

Back to work today for me. Seems ridiculous to get double time, but not complaining. :D

It rained all day yesterday and is now 11c and very mild. Looks grey and dirty out there. Bring back the blue skies and frost. I can no longer use the conservatory as a fridge either.

Made a trip to the sales, but they were rubbish. Same old stuff not reduced very much. Had a turkey dinner again for supper, so may be time for a change soon, although there must be several pounds of turkey left.

Well, everyone have a good day what ever you are doing....

    Morning peeps

quite a bit warmer here today, the weather station was showing zero when i left the house and its raining quite heavily. The heavy snow that was forecast hasn`t materialised and i have my fingers crossed that it doesn`t :p

Very busy at w*rk which is a bit unexpected and i`m willing the weekend to draw nearer quickly as its my weekend off :j I`m hoping to get the greenhouse cleared out and scrubbed then i can give it a good disinfecting ready for all my lovely plants to enjoy this summer.

Not a lot to report really - we had a thai green curry made from lo turkey last night with lemon rice and tonight will be a nice and easy beef biryani with garlic and coriander naan.

I`ve made a new freezer list which needs typing up as i plan to start running it down over the next few weeks.

Right off back to the grindstone.

    Have a nice day peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning All.
Bitsy - hope you feel better soon. Now have cough to match my cold, but so far feeling OK. Woke up early so have cleaned cloakroom and floor and dusted TV , TV stand and glass coffee table. All attract dust like magnets pull iron!
It's currently raining but too dark to see what effect that's having on the snow that was continuing to lie everywhere.
Think DS may be returning home today - if not tomorrow.
We have some casserole beef that should be used up today...but I think DH would prefer a turkey curry. We'll see.
Not sure what OS will be going on today - trying not to spend money, that's for sure, so will continue to avoid the sales. Can't think of anything we actually need, so don't want to be tempted!
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning N9eav, Sunny and Bitsy and all who follow. Can't believe that the snow we expected (and I was hoping for - children sledging!!) is falling as rain. But its good as I'm off to M&S today. Have a voucher but have seen something online which I like, but need to try on first. Can't believe that I've put on almost half a stone over christmas -

Diet starts today. Have been planning what I'd like to give for next christmas - I do this whilst I'm seeing family that I don't always see. Going for home made next year - so the need to plan ahead is more important than ever!!! OS today is eating from the freezer and the cupboards. Went to Tesco yesterday and they were marking down their scotch reared beef I got 900g for 68p - 7 times!! Yipee. All gone in the freezer for another day.

Right off to find some little fairy wings for the sock monkeys I'm planning on making. Have a great day everyone.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning - I can see bits of my road peeking through the slushy melting snow! :j:j Haven't seen tarmac since late November and it's fairly exciting.

Temperature still in plus figures so I will venture out today, didn't make it yesterday as the thought of the ice and crowds just made my brain freeze, which made my limbs freeze and my duvet reach over my head!

References to pepperami relate to low carb diet which I had been successfully doing before the chocolate avalanche happened. It's been raining chocolates in this house and I can't work out why people give fat friends more chocolate, it's like giving an alcoholic a bottle of wine. I seem to have a mystical connection with chocolate and can actually hear it talk to me - it mostly says 'eat me'. It's similar to Harry Potter being able to hear snakes talking.... honestly. :rotfl:

The cricket has been on the radio most of the morning but I don't understand a single word, have no idea how it's scored and find the whole thing baffling. OH is content though as cricket seems to hypnotise him into a peaceful state.

Happy Tuesday - hope you're well and warm.

Morning folks, up early as back to work today. Shouldnt be too busy but its only half staff. Going to have a no spend day and check the menu planner as cant remember whats for tea. Very positive about this moneysaving and all the new challenges that I am going to do next year - just want to get started - how sad is that!!!!!
Need to get a move on as walking to work today - even calculated that averaging the diesel usage of 3 miles a day at 40 miles per gallon costing about £5.50 a gallon (dont do litres!!!) will save about 45p per day - even walking three times per week averaging 40 weeks in the year will save just under £60. Will throw this value into a pot each week.

have a good day and hugs to all those in need
    Every days a School day!

Morning all, all those that have the cold virus thing going around take care of yourself it seems to be a nasty boomerang one that comes back and hits you again! So dont do too much too quickly! Tidying, sorting, and ironing today and not going near any shops its manic out there you would think they were closing down sales. Have a good day.
