    Despite reality proving different. :D

I quite rate Korean stuff as well.:p

To be totally honest, I don't have aproblem with any nationality produced cars???

Just some individual cars have more issues than others. 20 years ago you would have been correct, but back then the only car by the roadside would have been a Skoda.

    Things really have changed, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

If you say so, I still would not touch a Renault with a barge pole.

I do live in a village with a Renault Main Dealer Service department just up the road, so I get to hear all of the horror stories first hand from the mechanics.

I also see the breakdown truck go past my window with broken down Renaults on board, on a very regular basis.

I'm actually suprised he couldn't tell the engine mount was gone to be honest.

You usually get many warning signs i.e

    a) excessive vibration
    B) knocking/clanging
    C) you can actually feel the engine moving

I've just picked up a Laguna dci and noticed straight away the engine mount was worn from the vibratio/slight knocking noise

Gearbox mounts aren't that expensive, Dogbone mount at the rear will set you back around £30 and the top mount will be about £120 as Renault use fluid filled mounts.

the labour is where it's at tbh

I have a bit of experience with Renault engine mounts, albeit a Renault 5 in 1991, I pulled away a bit vigorously (ahem) and the mount came apart, it was made up of a large rubber cube with two metal mounting plates bonded to each side of the rubber bit.

I pulled over and had a look, and fashioned an impressive bodge out of some heavy duty speaker cable, to reduce the movement caused by the failed mount.

I don't know if the mounts are made the same way now, but it was a common prolem back then on the 5, the mount that failed was the one at the front.

There was no warning about the failure and it was apparently down to the design and the fact that some mounts weren't bonded properly when made.

You are right in that you usually get some warning, like vibration as you have pointed out. But as I had a sudden failure in a Renault I felt it relevant to comment.

    LOL !

Inactive.. You know my Laguna... Well.....It's.. Kind...... Of... Developed a problem with the lower rear suspension bushes lol...... And i need 2 new track rods (inner and outer end) as the steering is getting terrible..

    :rotfl:

Mine had the bushes done at 16,700 miles :eek::eek:

Only problem I currently have is that the gas tailgate struts are broken, I assume with the cold weather.

There we go, it's just a clip.

But he's in a big huff because the part won't be ready till Thursday, and somehow that's my fault. So basically I told him that once he gets the part he can shove it as far up rear end as he could manage then use a pole to get it that bit further. I figure that should about fix the problem.
  • ah dont worry its just his pride thats dented a bit coz he failed to have it checked sooner and now its cost more because he left it. of course its gunna be you fault, you didnt pester him enough to get him off his backside to get it done!! lol tell him next time he leaves something he knew might be wrong, remind him of this situation on how he left it go and cost more money.
