    Hi Guys
Might be joining you later this week, have just bought a wii, comes with sport and sports resort.
Bought for the children and for me and wife to increase fitness (just preordered nickelodean fit for the children as well)

Any reccomendations on what extra kit I will need, do I "need" the wii fit and board?

    Hi 1jim and welcome.

I'm currently using EA Sports Active More Workouts, you can use it with or without the balance board but you would need to buy an accessory kit for about £14. It has a 6 week challenge which you can do, I enjoy this above all the other games I've got. A bonus to having the balance board is that you can do a weekly weigh in.

I would give More Workouts a go first and if enjoy it and keep it up then invest in the balance board.:)

I've only ever done the hard intensity workouts on EA Active so I'm kinda used to them - but the inline skating skill kicks my a$$ even now.

I don't mind the balance board version, but the non-balance board one where you have to do all those squat jumps... One day I had them and some jump lunges or side to side squat jumps or similar one after the other, I'm surprised I was still able to stand up afterwards!

I'm halfway through the 30 day challenge now, and it told me last night that different and more challenging things await - uh-oh!

I only ever did the easy one too :o it really did get me in a sweat! :p

Just done half hour on the Wii, burnt 151 calories apparently! I hardly broke a sweat really, so I'm quite happy as at least I might actually stick to it and get myself a bit fitter!

    Quite happy so far! :D

How is everyone else doing? How long/often to you go on Wii Fit (or other game)
I try to weigh in on the Wii Fit every time I do an EA session (have the Wii Fit channel installed). I haven't really done any Wii Fit training since starting the 30 day challenge, as that is two days on, one day off anyway, but I try and do 30 minutes when I do. I don't find the Wii Fit anywhere as near as intense as Sports Active, it's more like playing at fitness than working at it, which I guess is the point! ;)

Oh, except that flappy bird thing in Advanced and Super Advanced, that's a real arm killer!

That's the one - I never use the balance board for any of the Wii games/workouts, since it lessens the work that you're actually doing quite substantially.

thanks, do I need to get the EA sports active (first one) to enable the EA Sports Active More workouts to work? is the more workouts better than the first one or the second one?
  • Hey all, can I join in with your thread? Been lurking for a while and sounds like there is a lot of motivation on here. Just what I need!

I've got the Wii and just bought The Biggest Loser Challenge. Believe me you sweat buckets! You can do a range of excercise routines of varying lengths and types, there is a weekly weigh in and overall it's a really good workout game. I've been on for 30 mins this morning but I need to keep the routine going :-)

No, you don't need the original, but you will need the accessories pack (leg strap and resistance band).

I've got both games, and whilst I haven't played More Workouts much yet (started the 30 day challenge on the original), on balance I did enjoy those sessions more, I think. That does seem to be the general consensus here, too.

You can often pick up the 'game only' More Workouts for under a tenner on Amazon, though (currently £7.99), though you'd have to but an acessory pack to go with that (about £15 I think). However, I struggled to find any 'game only' versions of the original game, most offerings seemed to be the ones that come with the accessory pack included. So it might be worth thinking about getting the original game with accessory pack included for the best price you can, and then also get the More Workouts to go with it (that's what I did), so you don't wind up buying an unneccessary accessory pack... ;)

And welcome to the party, Bex! :D
