Our Poundland had these this week, I noticed. No idea why but I;ve never planted summer bulbs, at a £1.00 a bag I think I will now :j

I love cut flowers as well, and they are expensive as a bunch of flowers.

I went to the poundshop in Northampton and bought 35 gladioli bulbs in a packet. As I have just moved house and the garden is a mess, thought that they might add some colour around the front. I shall see what else there is next time I go to town.

No, much too soon, the frost will have them, wait until Spring and keep them cool until then, like a dark shed / garage

You do not want light or warmth because they will sprout, then you are stuffed as it is too early to plant them

    March as the earliest
:rotfl::rotfl:I think s/he just meant they would pop into Poundland on Monday...I think that would be OK at this time of year ;)

  • I got a couple of nice looking Redcurrant bushes from there yesterday. There was also Bluberries, Blackberries and Blackcurrants but they didn't look as good.

Just bought Pentland Javelin First Earlies- 8 in the bag- in my local Poundland.
Used them last year and got a good crop from them.

Picked up the freesias- both double and single ones! Also got some windflower anemones and some harlequin flower bulbs at two for £1. Also picked up some packs of seeds- 6 packs included in one big packet for £1, and some sweet peas in a wee propagator. So I think my garden flower planting will be sorted now (well here's hoping!) Oh! I also got a gnome called Fred for the garden so he can hide away somewhere! Anyway thanks to everyone who let me know what was in! I think they are gearing up some more bits which will be great! Thanks again!

    Well well.

This is the first year that I have ever ventured into poundlands gardening section this early on in the year and have to ssay that I am shocked at the choice!

    Everything from onions to lillys.

Just wondering if I was to buy a few bits like pots, bulbs and sets they will be alright till I plant them out in march time wont they? They will be in a nice dark spot in my shed.

Also what kind of results have people had from poundland "produce"?
:) I've been growing Poundland onion sets (both white Stuttgarter and Red Baron) for the past 3 years. Very good sets, no problems, heavy croppers. Am going for their shallots for the first time this year and their Red Baron again. They're also good for non-plant sundries. A mate who grew their seed spuds last year found that some of them came up a bit strange (her words, not mine!). She meant what grew wasn't 100% the variety on the label. Mind you, I get my seed spuds from Godfreys and have been very satisfied but was vastly amused to find a rogue Pink Fir Apple growing in my Kestrels. As I've never grown it on the lottie it definately wasn't a self set. Very tasty, it was too.;)
