I had one a few years ago, it was rubbish. And very overcooked, the tiny amount of meat was like tasteless rubber - never again.

Surely, buying food from Lidl, you knew you were only going to get crap?

A lot of Lidl stuff is great quality, just perhaps not this item (don't eat shellfish!)- regarding 'getting what you pay for' this is sometimes true (eg decently reared chicken generally costs more and is better in many ways) but sometimes not (eg Lidl white bread flour is as good as any other brand but cheaper!)

What an uncalled for remark! I actually find the quality in Lidl, for the most part, to be of excellent quality, especially their chilled meats & frozen items. It is my supermarket of choice for these items. The car parks of the Lidl's in my part of the world are not full of high end cars for nothing!

Besides which, remember, some people on low incomes actually depend on no frills supermarkets to enable them to eat a varied range of food without putting a huge strain on their budget. Not everybody wants to eat basic food everyday.

No one supermarket is perfect, all exist to make a profit & some make far, far bigger profits than others. That doesn't mean the word 'crap' doesn't apply to any of the items they choose to sell. All supermarkets have packaging that infers you are getting bigger & better for your money compared to what is actually contained in the box.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Did it not have the weight of the lobster on the box?

I was going to buy one as the packaging looked quite substantial... then I read the weights... 1kg pack, 330g lobster!!
  • 1kg pack, 330g lobster!!

Of which probably less than 40% will be the tail (the claws will be far too small to have any usable meat), which will mean that there will be about 120g of tail, containing (if you are very lucky) 50 or 60 g of edible lobster.
Hardly enough for a couple of forkfulls.

A lobster this size is really only any good as a decorative item on a dinner table (or if you are really weird, on your Christmas tree).

So you have not tried the excellent cheeses and meats that both lidl and aldi sell then?

Well done you for not knowing what your talking about.

as above mentioned its defrosted weight is 330g. That is probably a minimum weight so your more likely to get around 350g on average.

However I bought one in the summer last year when they are getting rid of old stock and they got reduced to £2.00. So I thought that was a good price. Probably works out about £10 per kg. Which for Lobster, hell even a decent size frozen prawn is a decent value.
