Lidl £5 frozen lobster - complete rip-off

I bought one of these and tried it the other day. The lobster was absolutely tiny with a small amount of meat. I had thought from the packaging that it'd be a decent-sized one but then found out that a huge layer of ice surrounding the lobster had been what had made it feel much more substantial when observing the packaging. Complete rip-off.
You may be thinking, "what did you expect for a fiver"? Again though, the packaging and feel of it makes you think there is a substantial lobster inside, and the other foods they sell such as the ostrich steak are actually quite good so I had hoped this quality would be "across the board."
There is also a sign saying "deluxe luxury lobster" on the front of the packaging. Deluxe? It was fupping tiny. Steer well clear!

Tesco often have similar on offer and they too are very disappointing. To be honest, I don't think you can get a decent frozen lobster, even if it is bigger. The freezing process affects the taste & texture.0

Surely, buying food from Lidl, you knew you were only going to get crap?
There's an old saying - "You get what you pay for", and it's one of the truths in life.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
I've largely found that the quality of food is pretty good in Lidl -
far better than Tescos unless you can afford their 'finest' range
but I can't answer for the lobster as I've never bought one!0 -
Was it not advertised as being £5?
What did you expect to pay?
In what way was it a "rip-off"?0 -
What a lot of grouches, the OP was posting a warning because what in their eyes seemed like a bargain was not.0

Anybody who regularly shops at Lidl would tell you that's not actually true.
You've obviously never been in a Lidl store and are just making an assumption based on your food snobbery.
The OP got a poor deal on this occasion like I did last year when I bought Irish Velvet crabs (I think they were called) and after half an hour of scraping got about 3 ounces of meat off them.0 -
Fresh lobster is around £35 a kilo. A cooked one for a fiver isn't going to be very big is it?0

Don't think of it as a little lobster, think of it as a big prawn and it won't seem so bad.0
