I wish to report that my ironing basket is empty. (No change there then TBH)
I also wish to echo Shortbird's Mantra about thinking lucky and being lucky - along with my Pollyanna-like attitude somehow it does seem to work - though I know that changing the mindset isn't easy. But I truly believe that THIS is how I have coped through the bad times - I'm ALWAYS convinced that my ship is close by the harbour, even if it hasn't actually docked.
Anyway I wish you ALL a happy and healthy 2011; I wish, in particular for Lady Liberty to have the best possible times and I wish Toots and Lamewolf the best of health, continued recovery for Triker, GnB's Littley to be well, and Pigpens brood to stay healthy. Cycling - hope your daughter continues to do well (I think it's your daughter I'm thinking of with ME?) For those coping with git-like KH's I hope that these KH's remember they are adult and start behaving accordingly - so that would be JJTTF; Piggers and Quillion's too - and those OH's who seem to think they need not pull their weght - wake up and smell the coffee - you're adults, you have responsibilities, it's supposed to be a partnership. (Mumoftwo (I think) Mummyof5, Vanilla and a fair few others are in this group I feel; on occasion).
When Tony Hancock was 44 he and his wife were asked if they had children. Tony replied 'Yes, a boy aged 44'. Says it all really - cos I've got an awful feeling the LSB might fall into this category *rolls eyes* - keeping him at a distance should help
I hope those planning weddings have them go with only the one hitch - that would be the getting hitched bit;) Sexymouse and Seafarer's - are there any more?
Those who have lost loved ones - take them into the New Year in your hearts - the love is always there. I hope you are able to smile at the happy memories.
And finally
Thank you all for your friendship and support - especially those Flyladies - and they know who they are - who gave me the 'extra' support and advice and encouragement to get out into the real world - I hope that 2011 brings you all peace and joy
(And I haven't had a glass yet - shame this wasn't 10000!)
What she said.
And now, it's time for a chinese takeaway and alcohol. And more episodes of Afterlife, on DVD, which I need to give back to my neighbours after (counts on fingers....) 3 years.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Thats the house tidy and no ironing.
Its DDs birthday today so been to see her with card and pressie. I did a few hours at the hospital. They are lovely to me in reception and make me cuppas and look after me. Its lovely to have met such nice people. I was touched when one of the security guys gave me a hug and thanked me for the card and biscuits I gave them.
Have treat myself to a takeaway which I enjoyed. Not sure whether Im staying up or not.
Valli What a lovely post.
Toots Hope you are feeling a bit better.
Hugs and spoons for those that need them.
Thank you all for your love, support and being here.
Happy New Year everyone. All the best for 2011.0 -
Some lovely heartwarming posts tonight. Just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone.
DH and I are collating a list of things he/we/I want to do in the next year - and he has just added the Hadrian Wall walk to the list .'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Evening ladies
All i managed to do this afternoon was a bit of food shopping and baking with DD then chilling out with DH before he went back to work. This for them is the busiest night of the year so he wont be in good humour tomorrow especially as he has Sat/Sun nights to do as well. Tea for DD and I was Meatballs with pasta with the sauce made from a lurking pot of salsa dip, just have to make some kind of carbonara with the onion and garlic one now
.
I too am very lucky with my DH, he has been more than happy to see me get up late, sit on my butt watching TV and doing not a lot else this hols. We have had a great time chilling out and we are both very very happy to have been able to have that time. Normality and being busy all the time starts again on Tuesday so happy to have made the most of it.
I do however think that for 2011 I need to get myself more organised - with EVERYTHING! I am going to start writing lists of what needs doing in the house from big jobs to small, I am going to list all the places that need decluttering including wardrobes (especially mine and DH's) oh and of course the attic and the 'office' which is once again close to becoming a box room. I am sure we have boxes for stuff that we have ditched. I am also going to sort my budget - properly! and will refrain from buying more makeup and toiletries until I actually need them. No these are not resolutions they are essentials. I will take a book downstairs and start my lists while I watch TV with DD as its just me and her tonight seeing in the new year.I've ended this one by sending an email to my boss (and the team) disagreeing with his take that 'the three who are doing OK don't need to do anything and the seven who aren't need to improve' and telling him that if we're a team, the three who are doing OK need to show the seven who aren't how to get it right. And then recommending 'first, break all the rules' and 'now discover your strengths' as New Year readingNot sure whether it'll be the kick up the backside needed or a career limiting move, but I am fed up to the back teeth with the negativity and divisiveness within the team... (OK, and with having a crap manager
) Well done you for actually saying what you feel
I'll just have to see what happens. My useless bloke has done a lot of work on the paper we were writing yesterday, so I suppose I should look at it and do my bit. He very helpfully told me yesterday that he was missing me... Isnt this a good thing ? I keep telling him we shouldn't be discussing personal stuff at workalthough I agree with this
Off to have a shower and dress and try to get my act together... I need the place clean and tidy, and to get some exercise otherwise I won't be able to sort my head out.Dustykitten wrote: »All hoovered and tidied under the bed. Present box is quite depleted but with DS3 getting older there are fortunately a lot less parties now and I often give a bar of chocolate wrapped up with some cash.
Just going to finish the bathroom - only bath, shower, floor to do and then finish my ironing and that will be it for this year.
I might start my list later. Just filled in some of my calendar and realise just how much January/February DH is away on buisinessI wish to report that my ironing basket is empty.

If I might count my blessings, I have a wonderful DH (who has encouraged me to get my crochet out, rather than Flying, and we're sitting here by the fire that's he's lit, him reading. He's brought me a glasss of Marsala wine, and gone to check on the beef in red wine that he's cooking for tea). My children are delightful to be with, and a credit to me whenever they mix with other people. We all have our health, and can afford to do what we want to do (within reason).
2011 looks like it will have highs and lows for us, but we will weather the storms and celebrate the good times
Wishing all my Flylady friends health and happiness in 2011 :j
Thank you Valli and Penpen for these lovely words which echo everyones sentiments I am sure. It certainly does with me..
I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and a wonderful 2011. Thank you everyone for being there when I have needed you all.. I am so sorry for being a wet weekend the past few weeks but I truly want to change this - well once I can get over the effects of this swine flu..grr!!
I promise to be much more active in the thread next year, but I do have a confession - I haven't cleared my ironing pile
Must dash as I have to get ready to go to an impromptu gathering at my friend T's. Only about 6 of us but should be a nice eveningCan't drink though as I am driving to the inlaws tomorrow, so I've said D can have as much as he wants tonight

Before I close the computer for the evening, just popping by to wish all my Flylady friends a Very Happy and Healthy New Year. Thank you all for being my pals, for the encouragement, the laughs, the shared tales both happy and sad, and even for the occasional fluffy mule!
I have a new challenge for the New Year - as well as continuing with the Wii Fit, Mr LW has bought me a Nintendo DSi and Dr Kawashima's More Brain Training and a Professor Layton puzzle game, to try and get the ol' grey cells a bit fitter, as I mentioned to him in passing that I can no longer multi-task as well as I used to. The man's a gem!:D
Hugs, spoons and sticks for BDs in a tidy heap; grab whatever you need.:D
Cheers, folks; and I'll see you next year!:D:beer:
