We only ever end up putting the TV on at 5 to midnight, usually Jools Flamin' Holland, and I really don't think I can stomach it this year. Miserable old bat, aren't I?:D

No, you aren't, I can't abide Jools H although he does have some exceedingly good bands...:D

Waitrose was full to the gunwales (I was going to spell it gunnells and then realised that might be wrong:D) with people who have forgotten that the shop's only closed tomorrow. Same in Home Bargains. People dashing up the High Street with their M&S plastic bags (5p ones!) and the queue for the Waitrose car park was just like Christmas.

As I've been told to drink my mulled Cider while it's hot, I will oblige:rotfl:

All hoovered and tidied under the bed. Present box is quite depleted but with DS3 getting older there are fortunately a lot less parties now and I often give a bar of chocolate wrapped up with some cash.

Just going to finish the bathroom - only bath, shower, floor to do and then finish my ironing and that will be it for this year.

I might start my list later. Just filled in some of my calendar and realise just how much January/February DH is away on buisiness :(

Well another load has gone in the WM, still a load or two to do. DW has been emptied and reloaded, hob has been thoroughly cleaned (I gave up cleaning the hob racks by hand and have shoved them in the DW). Toaster, food processor and microwave have been wiped down to remove the soup I splattered on them when blending it the other day.

    Need to do:

put a load of washing away,
strip the bed of dirty sheets and cat,
empty TD of clean sheets and put them on the bed,
    clean kitchen worktops thoroughly,
put next lot of washing in TD,
new lot of washing in WM,
    hoover the downstairs,
hoover up the stairs and the landing,
    hoover upstairs,
    take off chipped nailvarnish,
fill the celery with cream cheese,
peel and chop carrots for crudites,
work out which things will cook at the same time (pizza and doughballs)
change into something a little nicer (trackie bottoms and an old t-shirt won't do)
do hair and nails, and pray nails don't chip or smudge.

Wow, that's a long list - hope Moon is up for a bit of delegation when he gets home.

I wish to report that my ironing basket is empty.

    (No change there then TBH)

I also wish to echo Shortbird's Mantra about thinking lucky and being lucky - along with my Pollyanna-like attitude somehow it does seem to work - though I know that changing the mindset isn't easy. But I truly believe that THIS is how I have coped through the bad times - I'm ALWAYS convinced that my ship is close by the harbour, even if it hasn't actually docked.

Anyway I wish you ALL a happy and healthy 2011; I wish, in particular for Lady Liberty to have the best possible times and I wish Toots and Lamewolf the best of health, continued recovery for Triker, GnB's Littley to be well, and Pigpens brood to stay healthy. Cycling - hope your daughter continues to do well (I think it's your daughter I'm thinking of with ME?) For those coping with git-like KH's I hope that these KH's remember they are adult and start behaving accordingly - so that would be JJTTF; Piggers and Quillion's too - and those OH's who seem to think they need not pull their weght - wake up and smell the coffee - you're adults, you have responsibilities, it's supposed to be a partnership. (Mumoftwo (I think) Mummyof5, Vanilla and a fair few others are in this group I feel; on occasion).
When Tony Hancock was 44 he and his wife were asked if they had children. Tony replied 'Yes, a boy aged 44'. Says it all really - cos I've got an awful feeling the LSB might fall into this category *rolls eyes* - keeping him at a distance should help ;)

I hope those planning weddings have them go with only the one hitch - that would be the getting hitched bit;) Sexymouse and Seafarer's - are there any more?

Those who have lost loved ones - take them into the New Year in your hearts - the love is always there. I hope you are able to smile at the happy memories.

    And finally

Thank you all for your friendship and support - especially those Flyladies - and they know who they are - who gave me the 'extra' support and advice and encouragement to get out into the real world - I hope that 2011 brings you all peace and joy

    (And I haven't had a glass yet - shame this wasn't 10000!)

  • My house looks so lovely after a week on Flylady that when my mum said "i'll come to your house on DDs birthday" I said "yes ok - that would be lovely" rather than finding a way for us to go to hers instead :)

My ironing basket if empty for the start of 2011

Had a nice halfday out with mum and bought some lovely half price christmas ribbon from our favourite garden centre which will look nice around a christmas cake and so on next year

Back now to cook a nigella recipe for tea, maybe have a drink then go to bed early as really not bothered about staying up until midnight this year - first time in 21years since I last did this!

Looking forward to a bright and breezy New Year's Day

I've spent most of the day running about so i'm glad to be home. :D
All hubby's meds collected and i decided to treat myself in the chemist to a nice new watch, was £14.99 reduced to £7.99 so not a hugh expense.

Since i've been home i've put away some food shop and stripped our bed (it's in the wash now). Plan now is to fill my empty bins. Gonna start in our room and any rubbish is out. I want a nice clean bedroom tonight. :)

Gonna get the kids to pull their weight and make sure their rooms are nice and tidy. Hubby can give me a hand in our room, he owes me.:rotfl:

JennyJewell well done what a way to end 2010. :T
    Valli what a lovely post.

Right ladies, here is to 2011, may it bring us health, happiness and fulfillment in everything we do.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

  • Flylady stuff done today
    2 lots of washing
    Unpacked
    Washed dishes
    Tidied up
    Cooked tea
Pooh patrol (double yuk as lots and lots of pooh since the snow melted)

I was supposed to be going out tonight with hubby to friends but reallly dont feel up to it..............so after a discussion he is going and I am stopping in. Besides, one of the friend's daughter is pregnant and I would hate for her to catch anything I have right now. Also I would be clock watching which I dont like seeing others do!

So I'll potter about on here with you ladies if that is ok?

With a celebratory cuppa! (made with Welsh water)
If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
    I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome! :p
